TIFFIN, Ohio - Heading to Northwest Ohio, the Ohio Dominican Panthers (17-8, 11-6) men's basketball team looked to dispatch the Tiffin Dragons (6-18, 2-15) for a season sweep..
Ohio Dominican won their fourth straight game, a 64-56 win over Tiffin inside the Gillmor Center on Thursday (Feb. 19) evening. .
BOX SCORE NOTES
- Elijah Hinton led with 14 points, his 15th straight game in double-figures this season. He added six rebounds to his stat line of five field goals, two threes and two free throws.
- Carson Seemann added ten points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals as he was four-of-seven shooting.
- Derek Goodman scored nine points with four rebounds and two steals.
- Terrance Broughton knocked down two threes as part of an eight-point night. He was one of three Panthers with six rebounds.
- Caleb Conard had nine points and seven rebounds.
- Kyler Krull came off the bench with five points and four rebounds.
- Ohio Dominican was 43.1% (25-58) from the field while shooting 31.8% (7-22) from three and 41.2% (7-17) from the free throw line.
- Tiffin shot a 39.6% (19-48) field goal percentage, 10.5% (2-19) from three and 100% (16-16) at the stripe.
- ODU won the rebounding battle 37-31 and had 12 assists to four.
- This was the eighth time that ODU has held a team to 60 points or less.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Tiffin scored the first four points and led 6-3 before a Kenny Scott three pointer tied the game at six before the under-16 media timeout.
- The game was tied three more times (8-8, 10-10 and 12-12) before ODU took off on a run.
- In three minutes of game time, ODU scored 13 straight points for a 25-12 lead with 6:25 left in the first half.
- After four Tiffin points, Hinton scored five points to open a 30-16 lead with 4:39 left before halftime - the largest lead of the first half.
- The Dragons trimmed the lead to seven points (30-23) but ODU led 34-23 at the break.
- The first bucket of the second half pulled Tiffin within single digits at 34-25 but the Panthers scored nine consecutive points for a 43-25 lead with 15:36 to go.
- Ohio Dominican's lead grew to 19 three different times before a Brady Moore layup with 7:10 left made it 58-37 Panthers - the largest lead of the game.
- Tiffin closed the gap over the final seven minutes with a 19-6 run but Ohio Dominican hung on 64-56.
