CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. - After suffering a late loss last Saturday, the Ohio Dominican Panthers (10-4, 4-2) men's basketball team returned the favor with come-from-behind win over the Thomas More Saints (7-5, 1-4) on Monday (Jan. 5) night.
Ohio Dominican erased a ten point deficit in the last five and a half minutes for a 62-61 win.
BOX SCORE NOTES
- Derek Goodman led the Panthers with 17 points, converting seven of his 14 field goal tries – including a trio of three pointers. He added three rebounds and three assists.
- Elijah Hinton scored 13 points on six-of-ten shooting with five rebounds, two assists, two steals and a block. He made his one three-point attempt.
- Logan Ryan came off the bench with 13 points on a five-of-six shooting night, making three of his four three point tries.
- Caleb Conard did not score but led the team with seven rebounds along with one block.
- Kenny Scott rallied with six points scored, three assists and two rebounds as he made four free throws on the night.
- Carson Seemann finished with six points and four rebounds, while Terrance Broughton added three points, three rebounds and four assists.
- Ohio Dominican shot 43.6% (24-55) from the field, 34.8% (8-23) from three and 60% (6-10) from the free throw line. Meanwhile, Thomas More had shooting percentages of 38.9% (21-54) overall, 46.7% (14-30) from deep and 100% (5-5) at the free throw line.
- The Panthers out-rebounded the Saints 35 to 29 while also winning the points in the paint category 28-12.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a slow start that saw the game tied at 3-3 and 5-5, Thomas More went on an 11-3 run to hold a 16-8 lead at the halfway point of the period.
- From that point forward over the next six minutes, Ohio Dominican responded with a 21-3 spurt that gave the Panthers a 29-18 lead with over 4 minutes left before halftime.
- During the run, Hinton scored seven points, with Ryan adding six. Seemann and Scott both accounted for four points.
- The run started with 13 straight Panther points as Scott tied the game with four straight points.
- The Saints scored the next six points to cut the lead to 29-24 but ODU closed the half with the last four points to lead 33-24 at the break.
- To open the second half, Goodman scored ten straight points for ODU as they looked to keep the lead above double digits.
- After ODU led by 12 (47-35) with 13 minutes left on back-to-back buckets by Zac Kimball, Thomas More went on a 24-2 run to open a 10-point lead with five and a half minutes left in the game.
- With a 59-49 Saints lead, Ohio Dominican outscored the Saints 13-2 over the final 5:35 to come away with a win.
- Seamann scored two free throws in the final minute before Hinton got a second chance layup to give the Panthers a 62-61 lead with 12 seconds left.

- Ohio Dominican will come back to Alumni Hall to host the Lake Erie Storm on Saturday (Jan. 10) at 3:00 PM. Both teams will be participating in Youth Day with autographs sessions throughout the day. The men's team will have autographs at 12:30 with the women's team occurring after the 1 PM game.
