FINDLAY, Ohio - The Ohio Dominican Panthers (12-5, 6-3) men's basketball team went on the road and battled the Findlay Oilers (12-6, 6-4) in a Saturday (Jan. 17) matchup inside of Niekamp Arena.
In a high-scoring affair, the Oilers snapped the three-game winning streak of Ohio Dominican with a 106-92 win.
BOX SCORE NOTES
- Derek Goodman scored 25 points, his third 20-point effort of the season on 11-of-17 shooting (tying a career-high for field goals made). Goodman made three-of-seven three pointers.
- Caleb Conard added 16 points with five rebounds and a block. On the day, Conard was six-of-nine overall shooting and four-of-six at the free throw line.
- Elijah Hinton gave the Panthers 14 points, three rebounds and four assists as Hinton had four field goals, three three pointers and three free throws.
- Logan Ryan led the Panthers with five free throws while adding two threes for 11 points.
- Terrance Broughton put up nine points and four assists, tied for the team lead.
- Carson Seemann ended the game with five points, six rebounds and three assists. Seemann was the team leader in rebounding.
- Kenny Scott tied his career-high with eight points also having three assists and two steals.
- Zac Kimball grabbed five rebounds for ODU.
- Ohio Dominican shot 55.7% (34-61) from the field, 34.8% (8-23) from three and 72.7% (16-22) from the free throw line.
- Findlay outshot the Panthers with a 57.6% (38-66) field goal percentage and 88% (22-25) at the free throw line. The Oilers matched the Panthers in three point percentage at 34.8%.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Findlay scored first but ODU bounced back with a 10-2 run for a 10-4 lead with 17:22 left in the first half.
- The Oilers answered with an 8-0 run before the Panthers tied the game at 12-12 going to the under-16 media timeout.
- Aside from ties at 17-17 and 20-20, ODU led throughout the first half - by as many as seven (38-31) with 5:41 to go before halftime.
- Five straight points by Findlay slimmed the ODU lead to 38-36 one minute later.
- After Goodman scored back-to-back baskets for a 42-36 lead, Findlay closed the half with a 12-3 run to take a 48-45 lead into halftime.
- Following halftime, the Panthers got the lead to two points by Hinton but the Oilers answered and maintained the lead throughout the second half.
- Findlay led 70-60 with 14:22 left before Scott scored four of the next five points as the Panthers trailed 70-65 - that was the closest that ODU got in the second half.
- The Oilers closed the game with a flurry, defeating the Panthers 106-92.
