COLUMBUS, OH - The Ohio Dominican men's soccer team opened its 2025 season against non-conference opponent Davenport—also known as the Panthers. Davenport came away with a 2-0 victory, earning their first win of the season and handing ODU its first loss.
Davenport applied consistent offensive pressure, recording 16 shots with nine on goal, compared to ODU's two shots, only one of which was on target. Davenport also held an 8-1 advantage in corner kicks. On the defensive end, senior transfer goalkeeper Joseph Deitering made his debut start for ODU, tallying seven saves. The match featured plenty of physical play, with 25 total fouls and four yellow cards issued between the teams.
The first half remained scoreless, but Davenport broke through in the 60th minute when Charlie Davis netted their first goal of the season. Eleven minutes later, Maxamillian Postlewait added a second with a strike from his right foot.

Ohio Dominican now looks ahead to Saturday, when they will face another non-conference opponent, Roosevelt University. Kickoff is scheduled for 12 PM at Panther Stadium.
