Charlton Scores Lone Goal in Loss Versus Findlay, 5-1

FINDLAY, OH - The Ohio Dominican men's soccer team traveled to Oiler Nation on Saturday for a G-MAC matchup against the University of Findlay. The Panthers fell to the Oilers after 90 minutes of play, 5-1.

Findlay struck early, opening the scoring in the 22nd minute when Tom Middleham netted his third goal of the season, assisted by Carson Oberski. Just two minutes later, Jeroen Van Der Veen added to the Oilers' tally with his first goal of the season, making it 2-0.

Right after halftime, Findlay came out firing once again. In the 48th minute, Middleham scored his second of the match and Findlay's third goal. Only three minutes later, Oberski added a goal of his own, bringing the score to 4-0. The Oilers capped off their scoring in the 58th minute with a goal from Joshua Brennan.

Ohio Dominican's lone goal came in the 56th minute when Thomas Charlton found the back of the net for his first goal of the season.

Findlay outshot the Panthers 19-9, with 14 of those shots on target compared to ODU's six. The Oilers also held a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks. The match was physical throughout, with both teams combining for 28 fouls and two yellow cards—one apiece.

Despite the scoreline, ODU goalkeeper Joseph Deitering stayed active in net, making nine saves—five in the first half and four in the second.

The Panthers now look ahead to their next matchup on October 4, when they return home to Alumni Hall to face the Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers under the lights at 8 p.m.
