Men's Soccer Draws with KWC, 2-2 to Close Out Homecoming Day

COLUMBUS, OH - The Ohio Dominican men's soccer team welcomed the Kentucky Wesleyan Purple Panthers to Sunbury Road to cap off Homecoming Weekend. The match ended in a 2-2 draw.

Despite the tie, Kentucky Wesleyan held a statistical edge, outshooting ODU 15-8, with six shots on target compared to ODU's two. Goalkeeper Joseph Deitering recorded four saves, all coming in the first half. The Panthers had the advantage on corner kicks, earning five to KWC's two, while both teams were evenly matched in fouls, committing 17 each. Two ODU defenders played all 90 minutes of play - Brad Leonard and Lucas Baker.

ODU struck first thanks to a foul in the box by a Kentucky Wesleyan defender. Senior Brenton Molli stepped up and converted the penalty kick, firing a shot into the upper middle of the goal to give the Panthers an early 1-0 lead in the first half.

Later in the half, Ohio Dominican extended its lead. Forward Kaiden Koch delivered a perfect cross into the box, where senior Blaivon James headed it home, giving ODU a 2-0 advantage heading into halftime.

Kentucky Wesleyan responded in similar fashion. Haakon Torvbraaten converted a penalty kick of his own, finding the lower left corner of the net to cut the deficit to 2-1. The visitors eventually found the equalizer when Mattie McNally scored his fourth goal of the season, assisted by Jersey Lopez, to level the match at 2-2.
