COLUMBUS, OH - The Ohio Dominican women's soccer team welcomed the Lake Erie Storm to Panther Stadium on Saturday evening for a G-MAC matchup. The Panthers played to a 1-1 draw with the Storm, conceding a late equalizer in the second half.
ODU struck first in the opening half, as freshman Ashley Yontz scored her first career goal as a Panther with a header, assisted by a beautiful cross-field pass from sophomore Madeline Hartke.Â
With just 20 minutes remaining in regulation, Lake Erie leveled the score. Leonie Witt found the back of the net off a right-footed strike, assisted by Arielle Fink.Â
Despite the draw, Lake Erie out-shot Ohio Dominican 14-8, including a 10-4 advantage in shots on goal. The Panthers recorded five shots in the first half and three in the second.Â
Goalkeeper Ella Schnitzer was a standout for ODU, recording nine saves compared to Lake Erie's three. Corner kicks were limited, with ODU earning three and Lake Erie two.Â
The match was physical throughout, as Lake Erie committed 11 fouls to ODU's seven. Both head coaches received yellow cards during the contest.Â
