COLUMBUS, Ohio - For the third straight year, the Ohio Dominican Panthers women's golf team opened the Fall season with their annual home event - the Champions of Women's Golf Classic on Saturday (Sept. 13) and Sunday (Sept. 14).
Held at Champions Golf Course, the Panthers finished eighth place of 15 teams that competed. ODU shot a 323 in the first round and bettered themselves with a 320 in the second round.
The Panthers had 14 birdies (3rd most) and 82 pars.
- Maria Briceno Vargas: Tied for 6th place with a 151 (+11), shooting rounds of 4-over 74 and 7-over 77
- Led the Panthers with four birdies in the tournament (T-6th most)
- Sydney Devore: Finished with a 161 (+21) after improving from an 85 in round one to a 6-over 76 in round two, tied for 28th place
- Meg Saffell: Tied for 37th place with identical rounds of 82 for a 164 (+24)
- Alyssa Rishty & Marissa Cline: Both were tied for 54th place at 169 (+29)
- Rishty had rounds of 81 and 88 while Cline scored 82 and 87
- Alana Miller: Scored 86 in both rounds for a grand total of 172 (+32) in a 66th place tie
- Ava Kemp: Opened her collegiate career with a 173 (+33) on rounds of 88 and 85 in 70th place
- Mia Steigerwald: Totaled 185 (+45) for her first event, scoring 98 and 87 for a 85th place tie
The team returns to action next week at the Wayne State Warrior Invitational on Monday (Sept. 22) and Tuesday (Sept. 23).
