FLORIDA - The Ohio Dominican softball team (6-11) continued their competition in the Sunshine State on the fourth day of the 2025 Spring Games, taking on Winona State and Indiana (Pa.) this morning. Unfortunately, the Panthers fell short in both matchups, suffering a 9-0 loss to Winona State and a narrow 4-3 defeat against Indiana (Pa.).Â
Game One Against Winona State (L, 9-0)
In the first game against the Winona State Warriors, freshman Amelia Spidell took the mound, pitching 3.2 innings while allowing seven hits, six runs, and two walks. Senior Liana Morreale stepped in for the final 1.1 innings, conceding four hits, three runs, and one walk.Â
The Warriors took an early lead in the first inning when Sam Keller singled and later scored on a stolen base following a defensive error. They extended their advantage in the second inning as Keller's RBI single brought Tiegan Mancuso home, making it 2-0. The fourth inning proved decisive as Winona State exploded for seven runs. The scoring spree began when Nora Brandt crossed the plate on an error after Kiley Slaats reached base.Â
Mancuso added another unearned run in the fourth, followed by an RBI single from Indigo Fish and a two-run double from Logan Anderson, which plated Fish and Braelee Jodarski. Alyssa Woelfel sealed the Warriors' victory with a two-run homer over the fence, securing their 18th win of the season.Â
Offensively, Ohio Dominican managed three hits, courtesy of Kaleigh Golden, Erica Massey, and Emily Holland, along with one walk.Â
Game Two Against Indiana (Pa.) (L, 4-3)
In their second game of the day against the Indiana University of Pennsylvania Crimson Hawks, junior Marlee Jacobs started in the circle for the Panthers, pitching six innings while allowing six hits, four runs, and three walks.Â
The Hawks did all their scoring in the second inning, putting up four runs. Reagan Rand doubled to center field, driving in Jordan Sylvia, followed by a single from Tess Smiley that brought Rand home for a 2-0 lead. Indiana (Pa.) continued their surge as Madison Pikula's RBI triple scored Smiley, and Pikula later crossed the plate on a fielder's error, making it 4-0.Â
Ohio Dominican attempted a late comeback in the seventh inning. Evan Platfoot got things started with an RBI single to right field, allowing Erica Massey to score. Freshman Avery Mueller then delivered a two-run double to left field, bringing home Platfoot and Morreale. However, the rally fell just short, with the Panthers dropping the game 4-3.Â
Offensively, Ohio Dominican recorded five hits and three RBIs, with hits coming from Massey, Platfoot, and Morreale. Mueller contributed two RBIs and a hit in the effort.Â

The Panthers will wrap up their spring break trip with a doubleheader tomorrow morning, taking on Slippery Rock at 9 AM and Wayne State (Neb.) at 11:15 AM before returning home for the weekend's games.Â
