COLUMBUS, Ohio - After seeing the Lake Erie Storm (16-6, 9-5 G-MAC) last Saturday, the Ohio Dominican Panthers (8-12, 4-8 G-MAC) men's basketball team concluded the home-and-home series with Lake Erie on Thursday (Feb. 6) night.
In a back-and-forth contest, the Storm defeated the Panthers 68-60 at Alumni Hall.
BOX SCORE NOTES
- Antonio Carter reached a season-high with 14 points in his third start of the season. Carter was five-of-nine shooting while knocking down all three free throw attempts. He set a career mark for steals with four and tied his career-best with four assists.
- Terrance Broughton scored ten points and dished out three assists coming off the bench in 21 minutes. Broughton made two three pointers out of his four made field goals.
- Jaylan Green reached double figures off the bench with ten points scored. He was four-of-seven on the floor with three steals.
- Zac Kimball pulled down four rebounds and scored four points.
- Elijah Hinton led all players with seven rebounds to go with four points.
- Carson Seemann had six rebounds and two steals.
- Both teams were nearly identical in numbers shooting. Ohio Dominican finished with a 38.5% field goal percentage (20-of-52) while Lake Erie was a shade above at 38.6% (22-of-57)
- Neither team was very successful from three-point land with a combined nine triples for the game.
- Ohio Dominican made 16-of-19 free throws while Lake Erie was 19-of-26 at the line.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a defensive first six minutes of the game, Ohio Dominican opened a 6-2 lead on three layups.
- Lake Erie fired back with six straight points as they led 8-6 with 11 minutes left in the half.
- In a two minute span, ODU went on a 12-0 run for an 18-8 advantage at the under-eight media timeout.
- The Storm rallied to tie the game at 23 with a 15-5 spurt near the under-four media timeout.
- The Panthers scored four of the final six points of the half as they took a 29-25 lead at halftime.
- Both teams exchanged buckets over the first five minutes of the second half before the game was tied at 35-35 at the first media timeout of the half.
- LEC pushed ahead to a 42-37 lead with ODU answering with five straight points to tie it again.
- After a 45-45 tie with 11 minutes to go, Lake Erie took the lead and never relinquished it. The Storm outscored the Panthers 23-15 to win 68-60.
