Gabby Stare Leads With 16 Points in Loss at KWC

OWENSBORO, KY - The Ohio Dominican women's basketball team hit the road over the weekend, traveling to Owensboro for a competitive G-MAC showdown against the Kentucky Wesleyan Purple Panthers.

Despite a hard-fought effort, Ohio Dominican fell short, suffering a 65-59 loss to KWC.

Senior Gabby Stare led the charge for the Black and Gold, scoring 16 points and collecting five rebounds in 37 minutes of play. Junior Brynn Mullet followed closely behind with 15 points, six rebounds, and a flawless performance at the free-throw line, also playing 37 minutes. Mackenzie Herd contributed eight points, making three of her four attempts from the field.

First Half Notes
KWC gained an early edge in field shooting, hitting 8 of 17 shots (47.06%), while ODU went 5-13 (38.46%). Both teams struggled beyond the arc, with Ohio Dominican making just 1 of 6 three-point attempts compared to KWC's 2 of 6. ODU had 10 opportunities at the free-throw line, converting six. The opening quarter remained tightly contested, with KWC holding a narrow 18-17 lead heading into the second.

KWC's offense found momentum in the second quarter, shooting 50% from the field (8-16), but Ohio Dominican's defense limited their perimeter success, keeping them scoreless from three-point range (0-3). Meanwhile, ODU's shooting percentage dropped to 31.25% (5-16), though they remained efficient at the free-throw line, sinking 5 of 6 attempts. By halftime, KWC maintained a slim 36-32 advantage.

Second Half Notes
The third quarter saw a scoring slowdown on both ends. KWC managed just 25% from the field (4-16) for nine points, while ODU struggled even more, shooting 17.65% (3-17) and adding only eight points. Entering the final quarter, KWC held onto a 45-40 lead.

Both teams improved offensively in the fourth quarter. KWC shot 31.25% from the field and 66.67% from the free-throw line. Ohio Dominican outshot their opponent, hitting 8-21 attempts (38.10%), but KWC's 20 points in the period proved too much to overcome, as they secured the 65-59 victory.
