PAINESVILLE, Ohio - To conclude the three-game road trip, the Ohio Dominican Panthers (8-12, 4-8 G-MAC) men's basketball team opened the first leg of a back-to-back with the Lake Erie Storm (15-6, 8-5 G-MAC).
Lake Erie got the win over Ohio Dominican 75-64 on Saturday (Feb. 1) at the Osborne Center.
BOX SCORE NOTES
- Elijah Hinton earned his fourth double-double of the season with 18 poonts and ten rebounds. He was eight-of-15 overall with a pair of free throws and assists.
- Terrance Broughton came off the bench with ten points and four assists, making four-of-five field goals with two three pointers.
- Derek Goodman nailed two threes as he tallied eight points in the game.
- JeJuan Weatherspoon had a team-best four offensive rebounds, part of a five point, eight rebound, two steal day.
- Tony Ezeonu blocked three shots with seven points and five rebounds in 11 minutes of relief work.
- Jaylan Green also scored seven points off the bench.
- Ohio Dominican outshot the Storm with an overall field goal % of 46.3% with 25-of-54 field goals made.
- Lake Erie finished with a 43.5% field goal % as they were 27-of-62.
- ODU out-rebounded LEC 31-27 with a slight edge in offensive rebounds 9-8.
- Lake Erie made 11 threes to ODU's five triples as ODU outscored the Storm 40-32 in the paint.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Lake Erie stormed out to an 11-4 lead within the first five minutes of the game.
- Ohio Dominican answered with an 8-3 rally to cut the Storm lead down to 14-12 with under 13 minutes left in the first half.
- The Storm created some distance and reopened a 27-18 lead before the under-eight media timeout.
- Goodman capped a fierce 9-1 run with a three pointer as ODU pulled within one point, 28-27 with 5:12 remaining in the period.
- Lake Erie closed the first half with a 13-2 run and led 41-29 at the halftime break.
- The Storm run continued into the second half, scoring nine of the first 12 points to open their largest lead of the day, 50-32 with over 17 minutes to go.
- The Panthers spend the next five minutes clawing away at the deficit, outscoring LEC 10-4 getting within 54-46.
- Lake Erie pushed the lead back to double-digits and got the win 75-64.
