Pants Fall to Findlay on the Road, 90-72

FINDLAY, OH - The Ohio Dominican women's basketball team traveled to Findlay, Ohio, for a 5:30 p.m. G-MAC matchup against the Oilers. After four quarters of play, the Panthers fell to Findlay, 90-72, inside the Croy Physical Center.

Leading the Panthers was guard Sarah Ochs, who scored 21 points in 35 minutes while adding four assists and two rebounds. Gabby Stare followed with 11 points, going a perfect 2-for-2 from beyond the arc and 3-for-4 from the free throw line.

Junior Brynn Mullet contributed nine points in 24 minutes, shooting 3-for-9 from three-point range and recording three assists. Mackenzie Hurd and Jenna Shackleford each added seven points.

First Half Notes

In the first quarter, the Panthers shot 46.15% from the field, but Findlay edged them out with 47.62% shooting, hitting 10 of 21 attempts and putting up 26 points in the opening 10 minutes. Ohio Dominican was held to 15 points due to Findlay's strong defense. From three-point range, ODU made 3 of 5 attempts, compared to Findlay's 42.86%.

By the start of the second quarter, the Oilers held a 26-15 lead over the Panthers. ODU's shooting percentage dipped slightly to 40% from the field, though they maintained a 50% mark from beyond the arc and converted 2 of 3 free throws.

Findlay remained consistent in the second quarter, shooting 47.37% from the field on 9-of-19 attempts. Their three-point shooting dropped to 1-of-5, but they limited ODU to just 16 points while scoring 20 themselves, extending their lead to 46-31 at halftime.

Second Half Notes

The Panthers attempted to chip away at the deficit in the third quarter, matching Findlay's 21 points for the period. Ohio Dominican improved to 46.67% shooting (7-for-15) but struggled from beyond the arc, hitting just 1-of-5. They stayed solid at the free throw line, making 6 of 8 attempts.

Findlay had their toughest shooting quarter, going just 3-for-10 from the field and attempting no three-pointers. However, they capitalized at the free throw line, making 15 of 18 attempts. Heading into the final quarter, the Oilers maintained a 67-52 advantage.

In the fourth quarter, Findlay found their offensive rhythm, shooting a game-high 62.5% (10-for-16) from the field and 3-for-5 from the free throw line to add 23 points.

Ohio Dominican responded with 43.75% shooting (7-for-16) and a perfect 3-for-3 from the charity stripe, but their 20-point effort wasn't enough to overcome Findlay's lead. The Oilers secured their 19th win of the season, while ODU suffered their 13th loss.

The Panthers will aim to bounce back on Saturday when they host the 8-15 Walsh Cavaliers in Columbus for a 1 p.m. tip-off.
