Broughton Leads Panthers in Battle With #13 Oilers

FINDLAY, Ohio -  The Ohio Dominican Panthers (9-14, 5-9 G-MAC) men's basketball team headed to Findlay on Tuesday (Feb. 11) evening for a battle against the #13 ranked Findlay Oilers (21-3, 14-2 G-MAC). 

The Panthers played the Oilers tough for the game but the Oilers held off the Panthers 84-73. 

BOX SCORE NOTES
  • Terrance Broughton led all scorers with a career-high 21 points on eight-of-11 shooting with four threes (of seven tries). He was tied for the team lead with four assists in the game. 
  • Elijah Hinton was the second Panther in double-figures with 11 points. He tied for the team lead with six rebounds and four assists. 
  • Brady Moore was one of two Panthers with nine points on the docket. Moore converted four field goals with one three pointer. 
  • Antonio Carter added nine points off the bench in 22 minutes, going four-of-four at the free throw line. 
  • Zac Kimball scored seven points with two assists. 
  • Carson Seemann tallied six points, six rebounds and three steals in 22 minutes of relief. 
  • Ohio Dominican shot 50.9% from the floor in the game, converting 28-of-55 attempts. 
    • Findlay made 32-of-55 shots for a 58.2% field goal percentage. 
  • Both teams took 23 three point shots with Findlay making 11 to ODU's eight while both squads had nine free throws made. 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Findlay got the first four points on the board before two straight threes from Broughton tied the game at 6-6. 
  • Two threes by the Oilers opened a 12-6 lead nearly four minutes into the first half. A three-point play by Broughton and a Seemann three pointers tied the game again at 12. 
    • Broughton scored the first nine points of the game for the Panthers. 
  • The Panthers tied the game at 14 once again but the Oilers opened the lead to six points twice (20-14 & 26-20). 
  • After Findlay led 26-20, ODU went on a 10-4 run as Moore nailed a three pointer to tie the game at 30 with 7:23 left in the half. 
  • Jaylan Green gave the Panthers a brief 32-31 lead about a minute later with a layup. 
  • The Oilers closed the first half on a 18-9 run as they led 49-41 at the halftime break.
  • Both teams exchanged baskets for the first eight minutes as the lead remained between six and ten points. 
  • With the Oilers leading 65-57 with 12:08 left, a 7-0 Panthers run closed the deficit to one point on a Hinton layup. 
  • Findlay extended the lead to five points but ODU continued to chip away before Broughton tied the game at 70 with 6:58 to go. 
  • The Oilers regained the lead less than a minute later and ended the game outscoring ODU 14-3 for an 84-73 win.
