Ohio Dominican Gets Key Win Over Ashland, 74-64

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio Dominican Panthers (7-3, 3-1) men's basketball team returned to the friendly confines of Alumni Hall on Thursday (Dec. 18) evening to wrap up conference play for the 2025 calendar year as they hosted the Ashland Eagles (7-4, 2-2). 

The Panthers remained undefeated in Alumni Hall at 6-0, this season. Ohio Dominican has won seven of their last eight games and defeated Ashland for the first time in the last nine tries (February 2, 2017).  

BOX SCORE NOTES 
  • Four Panthers scored in double digits for ODU in the near wire-to-wire win. 
  • Derek Goodman had a team-leading 18 points on eight field goals with seven rebounds, three assists and four assists. 
  • Logan Ryan came off the bench and finished with 15 points. He dropped three triples among his four free throws. 
  • Caleb Conard scored 12 points with seven rebounds, three assists and a pair of blocks. Conard was five-of-eight shooting while making two of his three free throws. 
  • Terrance Broughton added 11 points with a perfect four-of-four at the free throw line along with two steals and two assists. 
  • Elijah Hinton had eight points and six rebounds. 
  • Zac Kimball pulled in a ODU most eight boards, scoring six points with three assists. 
  • Ohio Dominican shot 43.5% (27-62) overall, 23.8% (5-21) from three point range and 83.3% (15-18) at the free throw line. 
    • Ashland had a better field goal percentage at 49.1% (26-53) but was held to 1-of-13 behind the arc (7.7%). 
  • The Panthers had 39 rebounds to 26 for the Eagles, including a 10-2 edge in offensive rebounds leading to 13 second chance points. 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Ohio Dominican scored the first five points of the game and held an 11-5 lead eight minutes into the game. 
  • Ashland slimmed the deficit to two points two different times (11-9 & 19-17) before the under four minute media timeout. 
  • After the timeout, ODU went on a 10-0 run over three minutes to take a 27-17 lead. Overall, the Panthers ended the half on a 14-4 run to lead 31-21 at the intermission. Conard scored seven straight points to close the half, leading with 12 points in the first period. 
  • In the second half, both teams traded baskets throughout the half before Ashland pulled with six points at 46-40 with 12:11 left. 
  • Ryan scored nine points of a 13-0 ODU run with three clutch three pointers as the lead ballooned to 59-40 with nine minutes. 
  • Eight straight Eagles points cut the lead to 59-48 and then later trailed 64-55. 
  • The Panthers held off the Eagles and finished off the win 74-64.
