COLUMBUS, Ohio - In the last game before breaking for the Christmas holiday, the Ohio Dominican Panthers (8-3) men's basketball team played host to the Hiram Terriers (3-7) on Saturday (Dec. 20) afternoon.
With the 85-65 win over Hiram, Ohio Dominican has continued their trend with wins in eight of their last nine games and still unbeaten at home (7-0).
BOX SCORE NOTES
- Elijah Hinton earned his first double-double of the year with 15 points and ten rebounds along with five assists. Hinton was seven-of-11 on the floor.
- Caleb Conard led the team with 16 points on six field goals and four free throws with eight rebounds.
- Derek Goodman made three triples on an 11 point scoring day, adding four rebounds and three assists.
- Logan Ryan scored in double figures for the fourth time this season on ten points.
- Terrance Broughton tallied 15 points with a trio of threes and a pair of free throws. Broughton added seven assists.
- Ten of the 13 players that saw action scored with five different players in double figures.
- Ohio Dominican shot 47.1% (32-68) overall, 37.5% (9-24) from three point range and 60.0% (12-20) at the free throw line.
- Hiram shot 40.3% (25-62) from the floor, 33.3% (8-24) from deep and 70.0% (7-10) at the stripe.
- ODU outrebounded Hiram 45-35 with a 24-11 lead in assists. 16 offensive rebounds led to 25 second chance points.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After ODU scored the first basket, Hiram rattled off the next seven points for a 7-2 lead four minutes in.
- The Panthers responded with a 10-2 rally, taking a 12-9 lead on a Ryan three pointer after the under-12 media timeout.
- Hiram tied the game at 12 and 14 but ODU regained a 19-15 lead with 7:21 left before the end of the half.
- Over the last seven minutes, the game remained within one possession until Goodman scored the final five points of the half as the Panthers led 38-34 at halftime.
- There were 16 lead changes and five ties in the first 20 minutes alone.
- The Panthers scored eight of the first ten points for a 46-36 lead with 17:32 remaining.
- ODU continued to lead by nearly double digits until a Brady Moore driving layup gave the Panthers a 57-45 advantage at the halfway point of the second half.
- Over three minutes, Hiram went on a 12-2 rally to cut the ODU lead to 59-57.
- In the final seven minutes, ODU used ten straight points and outscored the Terriers 25-8 for the 85-65 win.
