CEDARVILLE, Ohio - The Ohio Dominican Panthers (6-3, 2-1) men's basketball team
took their six-game winning streak to southwest Ohio on Saturday (Dec. 13) afternoon to battle the Cedarville Yellow Jackets (5-4, 1-2).
Cedarville ended the win streak for the Panthers with an 80-69 win in the Callan Athletic Center on a snowy afternoon.
BOX SCORE NOTES
- Terrance Broughton led all scorers with 17 points on seven field goals (two threes), four rebounds and seven assists.
- Elijah Hinton was the second Panther in double figures with 12 points and two blocks.
- Carson Seemann added nine points, four rebounds and a team-high three steals.
- Caleb Conard and Brady Moore each scored eight points.
- Zac Kimball made two threes for six points with his six rebounds.
- Ohio Dominican shot 43.1% (25-58) overall for the day, 33.3% (8-24) from deep and 73.3% (11-15) at the free throw line.
- Cedarville won all three shooting categories with a 54.5% (30-55) field goal %, a 43.5% (10-23) three point % and 76.9% (10-13) on free throws.
- The Panthers outrebounded the Yellow Jackets 32-30.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The teams exchanged the lead four times in the first three minutes before the game was tied at seven with 17:22 left in the half.
- After Cedarville scored four straight points, ODU answered with a 10-0 run for a 17-11 lead with 11:49 to go in the half.
- Cedarville went on a 10-0 run over three minutes, leading 21-17. The Yellow Jackets pushed the lead to nine twice before halftime at 30-21 and 32-23.
- ODU scored the final four points of the half to trail 32-27 at the break.
- Back-to-back Jackets threes got the lead to 38-27 90 seconds in.
- Three straight Panther threes on a 9-2 run trimmed the lead to 40-37 with 15:50 left.
- Seven Cedarville points pulled the Jackets away to a double-digit lead at 47-37.
- The Jackets led by as many as 15 in the second half and the Panthers could only get within seven points, dropping the contest 80-69.
