Men's Basketball Opens 2025-26 Season at GLVC/G-MAC Crossover

ELSAH, Ill. - For the first games of the 2025-26 season, the Ohio Dominican Panthers (0-2) men's basketball team traveled west to compete in a neutral site crossover battle to face two Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) opponents. 

The Panthers battled the Drury Panthers (2-0) and the Southwest Baptist Bearcats (1-1) at Principia College. 

Friday 11/14 vs. Drury (L, 70-65)

BOX SCORE NOTES
  • Brady Moore led the Panthers with 18 points off the bench. Moore was eight-of-14 from the floor with two free throws and three rebounds. 
  • Terrance Broughton added 15 points on six-of-16 shooting with six assists and three steals. 
  • Derek Goodman had seven points in 20 minutes.
  • Three different players scored six points in the game - Zac Kimball, Logan Ryan and Carson Seemann. Kimball had six boards and four assists while Seemann tallied seven rebounds and three assists. 
  • Caleb Conard made his Panther debut with three points, four rebounds, five assists and four steals in 30 minutes. 
  • Rashid Nikiema blocked two shots in ten minutes of action for his first game as a Panther. 
  • Ohio Dominican shot 40.0% from the floor in the game, making 24-of-60 field goals. 
  • The Panthers had seven threes compared to Drury's four but Drury won the rebounding battle 38-34. 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Drury scored the first basket before ODU went on a 11-0 run and overall - a 23-3 spurt to put Ohio Dominican ahead 23-5 with nine minutes left in the first half. Five of the ODU threes were made in that span. 
  • ODU kept the lead at double digits throughout the remainder of the first half but Drury trimmed the lead to 38-28 at the break. Drury scored eight of the final ten points of the half.
  • The 8-2 run carried into the second half as Drury scored the first five points to cut the lead to 38-33 with 17:35 left. 
  • ODU pushed the lead back to 11 at 46-35 with a 8-2 run with 13:57 remaining. 
  • Drury got the lead down and forced a 56-56 tie with 6:53 left in the game. Four minutes later, Drury had the 62-61 lead and held off the Panthers 70-65 with free throws down the stretch.
Saturday 11/15 vs. Southwest Baptist (L, 56-54)

BOX SCORE NOTES
  • Derek Goodman knocked down four triples of his six shots for a team-high 16 points. 
  • Terrance Broughton scored double-digits for the second time this season at ten points- including two threes. 
  • Zac Kimball, made one block for the Panthers and followed Conard with nine boards.
  • Caleb Conard pulled down 12 rebounds with eight points. 
  • Logan Ryan was three-of-seven for eight points with six rebounds while Carson Seemann put together five points and five rebounds. 
  • Ohio Dominican out-shot Southwest Baptist 39.3% (22-56) to 34.5% (19-55).
  • Once again, the Panthers had more threes (8-6) and out-rebounded the Bearcats 43-36. 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • A back-and-forth first half saw a low-scoring battle with neither team getting more than a four point lead.
  • Twice in the first half, Ohio Dominican had a four point advantage off of a Goodman three pointer (12-8 and 18-14). Seemann got the lead to 20-16 with 4:08 left in the half but the Bearcats closed the half with a 5-0 run to lead 21-20 at halftime. 
  • Over the first 13 minutes of the second half, Southwest Baptist went on a 25-12 run to open their biggest lead of the day - 14 points at 46-32. 
  • ODU answered with a 14-4 run to close the gap to 50-46 with 2:48 left. The Bearcats regained a 53-46 lead with 1:25 on the clock before an 8-3 rally got ODU within a bucket (56-54) with under 22 seconds left. 
  • A pair of missed free throws by SBU gave the Panthers a chance for a game-tying or game-leading shot but the final three pointer by Broughton was off the mark. 
The Panthers will host the Roosevelt Lakers next Saturday (Nov. 22) at Alumni Hall for the home opener.
