Panthers Dominate Walsh Inside Alumni Hall, Gaining 22nd Win

COLUMBUS, OH - The Ohio Dominican volleyball team stayed hot inside Alumni Hall, extending their strong performance with a commanding sweep over the now 20-8 Walsh Cavaliers, securing their 22nd win of the season. The Panthers dominated nearly every aspect of the game, finishing with 50 kills and an impressive .296 attacking percentage, while the only area they trailed in was blocking.

Jenna Peters was a standout at the net, registering 16 kills and contributing a block. Ashley Aselage added 11 kills, while Logan Rubel chipped in nine. Defensive specialist Lauren Dinunzi was also crucial, recording three aces and 12 digs. Libero Christen Tarter anchored the defense with 15 digs, and setter Saige Avery earned a double-double, totaling 12 digs and dishing out 24 assists to her attackers.

SET BREAKDOWN
Ohio Dominican set the tone early in set one, with Dinunzi leading a six-point rally to start the match. The Panthers built a commanding 10-3 lead, and although the Cavaliers fought back to close the gap to 16-12, ODU finished strong, closing out the set with a 5-1 run to win 25-15.

In set two, both teams showcased strong attacking play. Walsh's blocking became a factor mid-set as they closed the score to 19-17, but ODU responded with poise. Big kills from Jenna Peters and Grace Zinchuk sealed the set for the Panthers, 25-21.

Set three was all ODU, as they surged to a 6-1 lead early. Gabrielle Kirker then went on a five-point serving run to give ODU a commanding 12-4 lead. The Panthers cruised to a 25-15 victory, with Peters delivering the final blow to secure the sweep inside Alumni Hall.

Tomorrow will be a special day as the team celebrates the senior class in their matchup against the Malone Pioneers, set to begin at 1 PM. Seniors Jenna Peters, Alyx Snyder, Ashley Chmielewski, Saige Avery, Ashley Aselage, Gabrielle Kirker, Bailey Christiansen, Addy Wade, and Grace Zinchuk will be honored before the first serve.
