CANTON, OH -Â The Ohio Dominican men's soccer team opened their week on the road in Canton, Ohio, taking on the Malone Pioneers after a draw with Kentucky Wesleyan last Saturday. The Panthers battled to another scoreless draw, as neither side managed to find the back of the net.
Malone led in the shot category, outshooting Ohio Dominican 19-11. The Pioneers put six shots on goal compared to ODU's four. Goalkeeper
Joseph Deitering stood strong in net for the Panthers, recording six saves — four in the first half and two in the second.
The Pioneers also held the edge in corner kicks, 7-0, while fouls were even at 10 apiece.
Graduate student
Veron Fongeh led the Black and Gold with four total shots, including two on goal.
Ean Encarnacion followed with two shots, while
Logan French and freshman
Hayden Hoelting each added one shot on goal.
Hoelting, along with
Lucas Baker and
Brad Leonard, played all 90 minutes for the Panthers.
