Women's Soccer Drops to Saints in Columbus, 2-0

COLUMBUS, OH - The Ohio Dominican women's soccer team (1-7-3) opened their week of play at Panther Stadium in Columbus, hosting the Thomas More Saints (4-6-1). Despite a competitive performance, the Panthers fell short, dropping a 2-0 decision.

ODU matched the Saints in total shots (15) and shots on goal (6), and held a significant 11-3 advantage in corner kicks. However, the Panthers were unable to find the back of the net. They also committed more fouls than the Saints, 9-5.

Thomas More goalkeeper Tea Pence recorded six saves to keep the clean sheet, while ODU's Ella Schnitzer made four saves—two in each half—but allowed two goals.

Offensively, Madeline Hartke led the Panthers with three shots, including one on goal. Kamaya Cruz and Ali Mathis each contributed a shot on goal, with Mathis tallying two shots overall.

The Saints struck early in the first half. In the 24th minute, Ivy Hoffman assisted Josie Gruber for her fourth goal of the season. Just six minutes later, Alexis Harden added a second goal with a clever backheel finish, putting Thomas More up 2-0.

Ohio Dominican stays at home for their next match, set for a 5 p.m. kickoff against the Malone Pioneers at Panther Stadium.
