Panthers Surge Past Malone, 4-1, Behind Frimpong's Two-Goal Night

COLUMBUS, OH - As the postseason chase looms, the Ohio Dominican men's soccer team is building momentum heading into the final third of its season. The Panthers welcomed the Malone Pioneers to Panther Stadium on Thursday night, securing a dominant 4–1 G-MAC victory after the two teams battled to a scoreless draw just a week prior.

Ohio Dominican recorded its highest shot total of the season, firing off 19 attempts with nine on goal. Malone, meanwhile, was limited to just five shots — all in the first half — with only one on frame. The Pioneers held a 5–3 advantage in corner kicks but committed 12 fouls to ODU's six.

Graduate student Emmanual Frimpong led the charge, netting two first-half goals on three shots, two of which were on target. Aiden Crowley came off the bench to contribute a goal and an assist, marking his second score of the season. Freshman Hayden Hoelting recorded the first goal of his collegiate career while also adding an assist. Evan Reppeto came off the bench and contributed two key assists. Brad Leonard and Veron Fongeh each tallied three shots, while Carter Dunfee made his first start as a Panther, registering two attempts, one on goal.

Malone opened the scoring early when Christopher Onye notched his first goal of the season to give the Pioneers a 1–0 lead. The advantage was short-lived — just over two minutes later, Frimpong equalized off a cross-field pass from senior Brenton Molli.

The Panthers took the lead midway through the first half on a well-orchestrated sequence involving Hoelting, Crowley, and Frimpong. Hoelting sent a cross into the box to Crowley, who delivered a one-touch pass to Frimpong for his second goal of the night.

Before the break, ODU struck again. Evan Reppeto threaded a pass between two defenders to find Crowley, who finished for his second goal of the season. Just moments into the second half, Hoelting capped the Panthers' surge with his first collegiate goal - a sharp strike to the upper center of the net off a cross from Miguel Angel Santillan Camarero in the 52nd minute.

Looking Ahead
Ohio Dominican now looks to continue its push up the G-MAC standings as the Panthers travel to Midland, Michigan, to face Northwood. ODU currently sits seventh in the conference. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. on Saturday against the Timberwolves.
