TIFFIN, Ohio - On the second game of a three-game road swing, the Ohio Dominican Panthers (8-11, 4-7 G-MAC) men's basketball team went toe-to-toe with the Tiffin Dragons (5-14, 3-8 G-MAC) inside of the Gillmor Center on Thursday (Jan. 30) night.
The Dragons rallied for a 72-69 win over the Panthers with a second half effort to get the victory.
BOX SCORE NOTES
- Elijah Hinton led all scorers with 25 points on the night. He now has 13 games in double figures and seventh game of at least 20 points. The Newark, Ohio native converted 12-of-16 field goals in the paint with nine rebounds and two steals.
- Terrance Broughton tallied 13 points, making three three pointers with seven rebounds, five assists and three steals.
- Brady Moore led the Panthers with six bench points and three assists.
- JeJuan Weatherspoon neared a double-double with eight points and eight boards.
- Zac Kimball was a perfect three-of-three with a three pointer for seven points scored.
- Jaylan Green made two blocks with five points scored.
- Ohio Dominican won the field goal % category with an overall of 54.7% with 29-of-53 field goals made.
- Tiffin shot 42.6% (23-of-54) on the floor, shooting 37.0% from deep (ten-of-27).
- ODU had the edge on rebounding 35-28 despite Tiffin holding an 11-9 edge on offensive rebounds.
- Tiffin went to the line 26 times, making 16 of their tries while ODU was five-of-11.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Ohio Dominican jumped out to a 10-4 lead with Hinton scoring four points and Derek Goodman and Kimball each making a three pointer in the opening three minutes.
- A 6-2 Tiffin run closed the gap to 12-10 before Hinton scored four more points, pushing the lead to 16-10.
- Over an eight minute period, Tiffin outscored ODU 17-6 with four threes as the Dragons opened a 27-22 lead with 6:49 left in the first half.
- The Panthers closed the first half on a 19-5 rally, including an 8-0 run to kickstart the flurry. Ohio Dominican led 41-32 at the half.
- All of Broughton's threes came on the run in consecutive order as he went on a 9-2 run individually.
- In the first six minutes of the second half, the Panthers nudged the lead to 14 points (56-42), the largest lead of the night.
- Tiffin drew out a long 20-6 run over eight minutes, forcing the game to be tied at 62 with 5:29 left.
- ODU took the lead three times in three minutes but Tiffin answered every time. With 22 seconds left, Tiffin got the lead with a jumper by DJ Gooden, taking a 71-69 lead. The Dragons added a late free throw and did not allow the Panthers to get a final shot with the score 72-69.

- The Panthers will head to Painesville for a Saturday contest with the Storm of Lake Erie College. Saturday's tip-off is set for 3:00 PM at the Osborne Center.
