CEDARVILLE, Ohio -Â The Ohio Dominican women's basketball team claimed their second consecutive road victory with an impressive 84-56 win over the Yellow Jackets at the Callan Athletic Center.
Gabby Stare reached a significant milestone, surpassing 2,000 career points early in the first half.Â
Brynn Mullet led the Panthers with 22 points, nine assists, and seven rebounds in 36 minutes of action. Stare followed with 19 points on 8-of-13 shooting, along with five rebounds and three assists. Logan Pride contributed 15 points in just 15 minutes of play, dominating in the paint.Â
As a team, Ohio Dominican shot a strong 51.8% from the field, including 41.2% from three-point range, and 76% from the free-throw line. They scored 40 points in the paint and 19 off the bench while generating 10 fast-break points and converting 14 turnovers into offense.Â
The win marked Ohio Dominican's eighth of the season and third in G-MAC play. Gabby Stare, who earlier set the program's all-time scoring record, became only the second player in school history—across men's and women's basketball—to reach 2,000 career points.Â
First Half Notes
The Panthers opened the game with a 6-0 run, powered by Sarah Ochs, and held the Yellow Jackets to just 11 points in the first quarter, taking a 16-11 lead. Both teams were evenly matched in the second quarter, each scoring 17 points. Ohio Dominican maintained their shooting consistency while Cedarville improved slightly, but the Panthers held a 33-28 advantage at halftime.
Second Half Notes
The third quarter saw Ohio Dominican extend their lead, scoring 23 points while limiting Cedarville to 17. The Panthers shot 53.85% from the field, including two key three-pointers, and went 7-of-8 from the free-throw line. Cedarville's best offensive effort of the night wasn't enough to close the gap, and the Panthers led 56-45 heading into the final period.Â
Ohio Dominican sealed the victory with a dominant fourth quarter, outscoring Cedarville 28-11. The Panthers hit 10-of-14 shots from the field and went 6-of-7 from the free-throw line while displaying stellar defense all night.
