COLUMBUS, Ohio - To complete the six-game home stand, the Ohio Dominican Panthers (7-10, 3-6 G-MAC) men's basketball team hosted the Ashland Eagles (10-7, 6-4 G-MAC) on Tuesday (Jan. 21) night inside of Alumni Hall.
The Eagles outlasted the Panthers in the second half, taking the Tuesday night contest 69-56.
BOX SCORE NOTES
- Elijah Hinton had his third career double-double in the contest, tallying 14 points and 11 rebounds. He made a team-high six field goals with a pair of threes.
- Derek Goodman knocked down three triples for nine points with three assists and a career-high two blocks. Goodman has seven games this season with at least a trio of threes made.
- Brady Moore scored eight points off the bench with a pair of threes and two free throws in 28 minutes.
- JeJuan Weatherspoon totaled six points, four rebounds and three steals with one rejection.
- Terrance Broughton helped out all around with seven points, five rebounds and five assists while knocking down two three pointers.
- Jaylan Green assisted with seven bench points, going three-of-six overall on the night.
- Zac Kimball grabbed five rebounds in a two-point effort while Antonio Carter made one three pointer.
- Ohio Dominican shot 31.7% with 20-of-63 field goals made while shooting 12-of-34 from deep (35.3%).
- Ashland shot 44.6% (25-of-56) overall and 44.1% (15-of-34) from deep.
- Both team finished four-of-six at the free throw line.
- The Eagles outrebounded the Panthers 39-36 with the Panthers winning the offensive glass 9-5.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- A Hinton three and Kimball layup off of a steal pushed ODU to an early 5-0 lead one minute in before Ashland tied the game at five two minutes later.
- The teams were tied at eight apiece before Ashland scored five straight points for a 13-8 lead nine minutes into the game.
- Weatherspoon and Broughton combined for back-to-back threes as the Panthers regained a 14-13 at the halfway point of the half. Four straight Eagles points got Ashland up 17-14 with a three-point mirage to follow.
- Goodman tied the game at 17 with a three pointer as Ashland nailed two straight threes afterwards for a 23-17 with 6:33 left in the half. Two more Goodman threes instantly tied the game within a minute as Moore gave ODU a 26-23 lead, going on a 9-0 run.
- Ashland answered with an 11-5 run to close the half, taking a 34-31 lead into the locker room.
- Hinton, Weatherspoon and Broughton combined to kick off an 8-0 rally in the second half, retaking a 39-34 lead four minutes in at the under-16 timeout. The Panthers got the lead to 44-38 on another Moore three with 13:41 left but two straight Ashland triples tied the game at 44 with 12:53 remaining.
- Ashland used five straight three pointers on a part of a 25-10 run that pushed the deficit to 15 points in the final two minutes.

- Ohio Dominican will head out on the road for the first time in over a month as they make the trip west on I-70 to take on Cedarville on Thursday (Jan. 23). Tipoff from the Callan Athletic Center is set for 7:45 PM.
