COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio Dominican Panthers (7-9, 3-5 G-MAC) men's basketball team battled a similar mascot inside of Alumni Hall on Thursday (Jan. 16) night.
In a battle of the Panthers, the Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers (11-4, 5-2 G-MAC) defeated Ohio Dominican 91-71 as the four-game winning streak came to an end.
BOX SCORE NOTES
- Brady Moore was nearly perfect on a career-best night as he finished with a team-high 22 off the bench. Moore was eight-of-nine shooting, making all four of his three point attempts and going two-of-three at the free throw line.
- Elijah Hinton started off strong while finishing with 21 points. He converted nine-of-15 shots with three triples and seven rebounds.
- JeJuan Weatherspoon paced the rebounding category with eight rebounds to go along with his ten points and four assists. He had three field goals, a three pointer and a trio of free throws (off four tries).
- Terrance Broughton made a pair of three pointers for his six points while adding five assists and two steals.
- Antonio Carter added seven points in relief, making three field goals.
- Ohio Dominican shot 45.8% with 27-of-59 field goals made after going 12-of-28 from deep (42.9%).
- Kentucky Wesleyan finished with a 54.7% field goal percentage (35-of-64) and outshot ODU from deep (13-of-29, 44.8%).
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Hinton started the game with scoring Ohio Dominican's first 11 points on a trio of threes as they lead 11-10 at the under-16 media timeout.
- After KWC took the 12-11 lead out of the timeout, ODU regained the lead and pushed it to a game-high five points with an 8-2 run. Broughton and Moore each made a three as the lead was 19-14 with 13:23 left before halftime.
- Kentucky Wesleyan scored ten of the next 14 points as they got the lead back briefly at 24-23 before a five-point ODU swing got the lead back to 28-24 with eight minutes to go.
- The purple Panthers ended the first half on a 18-9 rally as they led 42-37 at halftime.
- Derek Goodman hit a three pointer early in the second half to pull ODU within 44-40 two minutes in.
- A 14-2 KWC push opened a 58-42 advantage for the visitors with 14 minutes left.
- ODU got the lead down to 12 points six times in the final half of play but KWC won 91-71.

- The current home stretch will end with a rare Tuesday (Jan. 21) night contest at Alumni Hall. The Panthers will host the Ashland Eagles, starting at 7:00 PM.
