KENOSHA, Wisconsin - Ohio Dominican's volleyball team had their final day at the Hampton Inn Invitational in Kenosha with two games against Wayne State and Upper Iowa.Â
The Panthers started the day with a win against Wayne State, 3-2. With a strong offensive attack, setter Gabrielle Kirker collected 26 assists, following with Saige Avery sharing 20 assists. At the net, Lauren Lucas and Jenna Peters led the Black and Gold with 14 kills each. Gabrielle Kirker and Liv Fenstermaker led the team with ten digs each. Ashley Aselage carried at the net with four blocks. Â
The Panthers' final game in Kenosha was an exciting one against Upper Iowa. Upper Iowa started off strong, taking the first set 25-15 which left the Panthers to respond in set two, 25-16. ODU took the lead in set 3, winning 25-23. The Peacocks responded late in set 4, winning 31-29. In a final five set, Upper Iowa snagged the last two points, defeating Ohio Dominican 15-13.Â
Lauren Lucas led the Panthers in kills with 17, Ashley Aselage following with 15. Macie Bowden led the Black and Gold with 29 assists and three aces. Defensively, freshman Liv Fenstermaker collected 12 digs, Ashley Chmielewski following with eight digs. Â
Senior Lauren Lucas accomplished a huge feat in Kenosha over the weekend. The outside hitter recorded over 1000 kills in her career as a Panther. Â
Ashley Aselage was selected to the all-tournament team for the weekend.Â
