COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican softball team wraps up their regular season schedule with a road trip to northeast Ohio this weekend. The Black and Gold will take on the Malone Pioneers on Friday and the Walsh Cavaliers on Saturday.
About Ohio Dominican
The Panthers are 30-10 overall and 16-6 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference. They are currently third in the standings and have clinched a spot in the G-MAC Tournament next week.
Alli Madden (Cincinnati, Ohio) continues to lead the team with a .385 batting average. The senior has 37 hits and 20 stolen bases on the year. Following her is
Alexis Stevens (Marion, Ohio) with a .382 batting average. Stevens leads the G-MAC in doubles with 18 and is third in runs batted in with 40.
In the circle, G-MAC Pitcher of the Week winner,
Grace Hammer (Uniontown, Ohio) went 2-0 last week with two saves. The graduate now has a 9-4 record and a conference high of seven saves. Hammer has 115 strikeouts on the season with the second best ERA of 1.22.
Addison Smodilla (Terre Haute, Ind.) post an 11-3 record on the rubber. The graduate has 53 strikeouts on the season and posts a 2.14 ERA.
About Malone
The Pioneers enter the week with a 26-16 overall record and an 11-11 mark in the conference, placing them tied for eighth with Ashland.
Amber Miller leads Malone in batting average with a .417. She has 45 hits and 12 runs batted in. Following her is Karlie Duvall with a .343 batting average. Duvall has 35 hits with six doubles and five stolen bases.
In the circle, Mia Rose has a 14-10 record with a 2.23 ERA. Rose has struck out 169 batters in 156.2 innings. Grace Kissick has a 4.30 ERA with an 11-6 record. She has pitched 99.1 innings and has 86 strikeouts on the year.
Ohio Dominican holds a 17-3 record against Malone dating back to the 2011 season. The Panthers have won five straight including consecutive 9-1, six-inning, run rules last season.
About Walsh
The Cavaliers enter the week with a 13-27 overall record and a 5-11 mark in the G-MAC, placing them eleventh in the standings. Walsh has a busy week ahead as they will travel to Lake Erie and Ursuline on Wednesday and Thursday before returning home on Friday to host Ashland. The finish by hosting ODU on Saturday.
Sarah Moats posts the best batting average or the Cavs with a .361. Moats has 44 hits on the season with 10 doubles, five triples, and three home runs. She also has 27 RBIs. Sarah Cantley has a .319 batting average with 30 hits and 23 RBIs.
On the rubber, Maci Smythe has a 2.80 ERA with a 4-8 record. The freshman has pitched 80.0 innings and has 42 strikeouts. Chloe Sayre tabs a 3.41 ERA with a 4-2 record. She has pitched 49.1 innings and has recorded 32 strikeouts.
The Panthers are 15-8 against the Cavaliers, dating back to 2011. The Black and Gold have won the last four match-ups with the Maroon and Gold, including a 10-2, six-inning, run rule last spring.
First Pitch
The Malone doubleheader is set to start at 3:00 PM on Friday afternoon at Pioneer Softball Field. Saturday's doubleheader against the Cavs is slated for 1:00 PM at WU Softball Complex.
