Bane Paces Panthers in Spring Opener

SUNSET BEACH, N.C. - The Ohio Dominican Panthers men's golf team resumed the 2023-24 season with the Spring segment in the state of North Carolina. The Panthers were competing in the ODU/Gannon Sea Trail Intercollegiate on Thursday (March 7) and Friday (March 8) at the Sea Trails Resort - Jones Course. 

Ohio Dominican ended the two-day event with a score of 584, tied for the sixth lowest team score in program history. The Panthers tallied an even-par 288 in the first round, tied for the fifth lowest single round in the program. In the second round, ODU was +8 with 296. ODU was third of the nine teams competing. 

Junior Jeremiah Bane (Grove City, Ohio) earned his second top five finish with a fifth place finish and his second lowest score of the season, a 1-under 143. He shot a 2-under 70 in the opening round and followed it up with a one-over 73. He had eight birdies and 22 pars, leading the Panthers in the birdies category. 

Junior Yadhu Urs (Castries, Saint Lucia) went for a 1-over 145 in the second straight tournament, finishing in seventh place. Urs was 3-over 74 in the first round before going 1-under 71 in the second round. He had six birdies and 24 pars - the second most pars for the tournament. 

Junior Tyler Andersen (Columbiana, Ohio) shot his lowest 36-hole score of the season with a 150 (+6) in the top 20. Andersen tallied rounds of 77 and 73 with seven birdies and 20 pars. 

Sophomore Bryce Cobb (Anna, Ohio) was tied with Andersen at +6 after rounds of 1-under 71 and then 79 in the second round. Cobb had five birdies and 22 pars made. 

Senior Kai Squires (Dunstable, United Kingdom) set a season-low for 36 holes with a 153 (+9). He totaled individual rounds of 78 and 75 as the top Panther individual. Squires had five birdies and 20 pars overall. 

Just like Squires, sophomore Nash Linder (Grove City, Ohio) went for his lowest 36-hole tally of the season. As an individual, Linder was 154 (+10) with scores of 78 and 76 and four birdies. 

Sophomore Kolin McKee (Sunbury, Ohio) had his lowest round of the season - a 73 before shooting 84 in the second round. He totaled 157 (+13) with four birdies and 18 pars. 

Graduate student Jack Lindgren made his Panther debut as an individual. Lindgren had rounds of 74 and 86 for a full total of 160 (+16). He made one eagle, one birdie and 23 pars. 

Senior Jackson Parnell (Maineville, Ohio) rounded out the Panthers with a 161 (+17) with rounds of 82 and 79. 

The next event for the Panthers will be the Findlay Spring Invite on March 25th and 26th in Richmond, Kentucky.
