RICHMOND, Ky. - The Ohio Dominican Panthers men's golf team participated in their second event of the Spring season, this time in the Bluegrass State of Kentucky.
The Panthers finished ninth of 18 teams at the Findlay Spring Invite on Monday (March 25) and Tuesday (March 26) at the Boone's Trace National Golf Club. ODU shot 290 and 295 in their respective first day rounds before ending with a 303 in the rainy final round. The final total of 888 (+24) was the sixth best score for 54 holes in the program's history.
The team had 172 pars - the second most of all teams along with 31 birdies.
Junior
Jeremiah Bane (Grove City, Ohio) had the top ODU score with a 221 (+5) after rounds of 71, 73 and 77. Bane finished with 37 pars and seven birdies for the tournament in 25th place overall.
Junior
Tyler Andersen (Columbiana, Ohio) scored his best 54-hole score of the season with a 222 (+6) on rounds of 74, 76 and 72. Andersen led the Panthers with nine birdies and had 32 pars. He finished in 29th place for the event.
Junior
Yadhu Urs (Castries, Saint Lucia) and senior
Kai Squires (Dunstable, United Kingdom) ended the tournament in a tie for 46th place on a 226 (+10) score. Urs tied Bane for the lowest score as a Panther with a one-under 71 before shooting 79 and 76 in rounds two and three.
Squires had two first day scores of 74 before a 78 ended his tournament. The duo combined for ten birdies (Squires - 6, Urs - 4) and Urs paced the par category for the Panthers at 38. Squires added 34 pars for the 54 holes.
Sophomore
Bryce Cobb (Anna, Ohio) was in 69th place at 233 (+17). Cobb shot 79 in round one before shooting an even-par 72 in round two. His final round was 82. He slotted third among ODU with 31 pars and five birdies.
Ohio Dominican will host the Bill Blazer Memorial on April 5th and 6th at the Urbana Country Club.
