COLUMBUS, Ohio – After two weeks away, the Ohio Dominican softball team returns to the diamond for four straight home doubleheaders, including the beginning of their conference schedule. The Panthers plan to host Wheeling, Trevecca Nazarene, Kentucky Wesleyan, and Saginaw Valley.
About Ohio Dominican
The Black and Gold enter the week with a 9-3 overall record on the year. ODU last played on February 24 at the Blue Bridge Battle in Indiana. The Panthers have canceled three doubleheaders due to weather conditions.
Leading the way for Ohio Dominican is
Alexis Stevens (Marion, Ohio) with a .436 batting average. The senior has collected 17 hits, including eight doubles and a triple. She leads with 13 runs batted in and is 5-6 on stolen bases.
Following her is
Saadie Maysonet (Worthington, Ohio) with a .417 batting average. Maysonet has 10 hits with five RBIs and five walks.
Kaleigh Golden (Thornville, Ohio) has a .410 batting average. The junior has 16 hits and has accounted for 12 runs.
In the circle, graduate
Grace Hammer (Uniontown, Ohio) has a 4-1 record and a 0.65 ERA. In 32.1 innings pitched, Hammer has retired 36 batters. Following her is
Marlee Jacobs (Plain City, Ohio) with a 2.17 ERA. Jacobs has a perfect 4-0 record in 29.0 innings pitched. She has struck out 25 batters and has a save.
About Wheeling
The Cardinals are 3-15 this season and are on a 10 game losing streak. Wheeling last won on February 26 where they defeated G-MAC institute, Ursuline, 8-6 and 10-1.
Leading the way is Cassie Feyh with a .472 batting average. Feyh has 25 hits, including eight doubles, and 13 RBIs. Following her is Madison Kay with a .357 batting average. Key has 12 RBIs, four homeruns, and three doubles on the season. On the rubber, Maria Clark has an 8.01 ERA in 32.1 innings pitched. Clark has 12 strikeouts and a 1-5 record. Following her is Ryleigh Peters with a 13.40 ERA and 12 strikeouts.
The Panthers are 4-1 against the Cardinals dating back to 2016. Last season, the two split with ODU winning game one, 1-0, and WU taking game two, 10-9.
About Trevecca Nazarene
The Trojans are 16-8 heading into the weekend. Trevecca will open their conference schedule with Ashland on Friday afternoon. They are coming off back-to-back wins to end spring break.
Addy Grace Summers leads the team with a .420 batting average. She has 21 hits with three doubles and nine RBIs. Kendall Andrews follows with a .400 batting average and a .773 slugging percentage. The senior has 30 hits, including four doubles, three triples, and six homeruns. Andrews has 35 RBIs and is a perfect 16-16 on stolen bases.
Dating back to 2013, the Black and Gold are 13-9 against the Trojans. ODU won eight in a row from 2021 to 2023 but were bested in the G-MAC Tournament last season, 7-6, in eight innings.
About Kentucky Wesleyan
The Panthers are 9-11 this season and are currently on a four game winning streak after sweeping Oakland City and Bethel (Tenn.). KWC will take on Ashland on Saturday before heading to Columbus on Sunday.
Leading the way for KWC is Megan Matheis with a .441 batting average. The sophomore has 26 hits this season, including seven doubles, a triple, and five homeruns. Augusta Garr follows with a .404 batting average. Garr has seven runs batted in and 19 hits, including five doubles. In the circle, Chloe Williams has a 3.28 ERA in 42.2 innings pitched. She has a 3-2 record and has 29 strikeouts.
Ohio Dominican is 10-5 against Kentucky Wesleyan, dating back to 2014. The Black and Gold have won the last six games, including a 14-2 five-inning run rule in Owensboro last spring.
About Saginaw Valley
The Cardinals are 10-7 this season and are coming off two losses to end their spring break trip. SVSU will fellow G-MAC school Findlay and Tiffin on Saturday and Sunday.
Alyssa Muench has a .378 batting average on the season. Muench has 14 hits, including two doubles, a triple, and two homeruns. Paige Kolinski has a team high of 17 RBIs and three homeruns. In the circle, Muench has a 3.89 ERA with 47 strikeouts in 36.0 innings pitched.
ODU is 13-12 against SVSU, dating back to 2011. Last season, the Panthers swept the Cardinals in the regular season, 2-1 and 8-1, but Saginaw Valley answered in the NCAA Midwest Regional by run ruling Ohio Dominican 8-0 in five-innings.
First Pitch
First pitch is set for 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM on Wednesday against Wheeling at Panther Field. The Trevecca doubleheader will start at 1:00 PM on Saturday. Kentucky Wesleyan and Ohio Dominican will play at 12:00 PM on Sunday with action on Monday against Saginaw Valley State starting at 2:00 PM.
