ASHLAND, Ohio - The Ohio Dominican Panthers indoor track and field team took part in the 2024 Great Midwest Indoor Track and Field Championships this weekend at the Niss Athletic Center on the campus of Ashland University.
Over the two day event on Friday (Feb. 23) and Saturday (Feb. 24), the Panthers got their first indoor conference champion and had two school records fall once again.
Cole Miller (Chillicothe, Ohio) jumped his way to the long jump title with a new school record of 7.59 meters.
Eayuel Gebrtsadik (Columbus, Ohio) continued to shave time off of his mile record as he reset his own record at 4:18.75.
The men scored ten points to finish ninth of 11 teams while the women were tenth with one point scored.
1st Place Finishes
- Cole Miller (Chillicothe, Ohio) - 7.59 meters, setting a ODU record while sitting tied for second nationally and tied for third in the G-MAC record books
8th Place Finishes
- Brooke Armbrust - 25.20 second prelim time for the 200 meters before running 25.34 seconds in the finals
Other Finishes
- Eugene Boahen - finished ninth in the 200 meters with a season-best 22.09 seconds (7th fastest in program history), 13th fastest in the 60 meter prelims at 7.00 seconds
- Women's 4x400 Relay (Armbrust, Griffith, Pfeifer, Pitt) - 10th place (4:11.18)
- Men's 4x400 Relay (Boahen, Diaby, Seely and Wilson) - 11th place (3:29.70)
- Owen Wilhelm (Sunbury, Ohio) - 1.85 meters for the high jump to finish 12th place
- Aly Diaby - season-best 400 meter time of 49.81 seconds (16th place) and the sixth fastest time in ODU history; 20th in the 200 meter prelims for second fastest time of the season (22.72 seconds)
- Eayuel Gebrtsadik (Columbus, Ohio) - 16th place with his new mile record of 4:18.75
- G'nae Morrison (San Antonio, Texas) - 19th place finish with a season-best time of 8.01 seconds in the 60 meter prelims; 25th place in 200 meters with a 27.73 second prelim mark
- Kaelin Pfeifer (Washington Court House, Ohio) - set a personal record in the 400 meters (1:02.41), 20th place - second fastest 400 meter time for the Panthers this season and sits seventh in the all-time honor roll
- Ismael Obas (Columbus, Ohio) - jumped 6.58 meters in the long jump (13th place), 7.10 seconds for the 60 meter prelims, 21st place; 24th place in the 200 meter prelims with 23.04 seconds - his second fastest race of the season
- Merrick Shorter (Dublin, Ohio) - second fastest 3000 meter time in program history (8:47.36) for 21st place, setting a PR
- Tyler Wallace (Columbus, Ohio) - ran a 7.19 second prelim time in the 60 meters for 22nd place
- Benjamin Seely (Chesterton, Indiana) - 25th place in the 60 meter prelims with a 7.23 second time, third fastest race of the season
- Jeralyn Strawn (Lancaster, Ohio) - PR of 11:18.38 in the 3000 meters, 26th place
- Henry Pierce - 26th in the weight throw with a PR throw of 12.27 meters, fouled in the shot put
- Jana Griffith (Washington Court House, Ohio) - earned a PR of 1:03.85 in the 400 meters, 27th place
- Mustafa Al-Saibawi (Columbus, Ohio) - 10.94 meters in the shot put (27th place), fouled in the weight throw
- Grace Pitt - reached a 400 meter personal best of 1:03.90, 28th place
- Kylee Henry (Circleville, Ohio) - season best in the mile by five seconds (5:57.51), finishing in 29th place
- Jacob Krous (Galena, Ohio) - clocked in at 4:31.19 for the mile, his second fastest mark of the season, 30th place
- Blake Wilson - second fastest 400 meter time of the season (53.67 seconds), 30th place
- Tyra McClain (Van Wert, Ohio) - 6:13.07 time for the mile run, 31st place finish
- Cole Miller - 23.69 seconds for the 200 meter prelims, 31st place
- Alyza Camp (Waynesville, Ohio) - ran her second fastest mile of the season, 6:30.09 in 32th place
- Edward Devaney (Lexington, Ohio) - reached a PR in the 800 meters of 2:08.03, 32th place
- Aidan Shannon (Columbus, Ohio) - set a PR by 13 seconds in the 3000 meters (9:17.59)
- Rogan Hanson (Craig, Alaska) - 4:43.39 in the mile, his third fastest mile time of the season (34th place)
- Gabrielle Reed (Pickerington, Ohio) - 2:35.15 in the 800 meters, second fastest time of the 2023-24 indoor season, 34th place
- Nikane Ambos (Wapakoneta, Ohio) - 1:07.70 time in the 400 meters in 34th place
- Jaclyn Strawn (Lancaster, Ohio) - hit a PR of 11:42.75 in the 3000 meters, finishing 34th place
- Anna Blackstone (Lexington, Ohio) - personal best of 12:48.46 in the 3000 meters
The Panthers will resume the outdoor portion of the schedule in late March.
