Timberwolves Strong Shooting Carries Them Over Panthers

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican women's basketball team concluded their week by hosting Northwood University on Saturday afternoon. The Black and Gold got a slow start, resulting in a 94-63 home loss to the Timberwolves.

  • Senior Gabby Stare (Newark, Ohio) led the way with 13 points. She added five rebounds and a block.
  • Following her was La'Sonja Hill (Cincinnati, Ohio), Madelyn Fearon (Greenville, Ohio), and Shannon Wojciak (Medina, Ohio) with eight points each. Hill led the team with four assists and three steals. Fearon went 3-5 from the field, including 2-4 from behind the arc. Wojciak was a perfect 3-3 from the floor and grabbed four rebounds.
  • Brynn Mullet (Berlin, Ohio) had seven points and two assists. On the boards, Sarah Ochs (Beavercreek, Ohio) grabbed a team high of six rebounds while Jenna Shackleford (Newark, Ohio) followed with five.
How It Happened
  • Northwood quickly took control, running out to 9-0 lead over the first three minutes. The Panthers tried to cut into their deficit with a last second three pointer from Hill but found themselves down, 32-18 after the opening period.
  • In the second quarter, Stare tabbed seven points, but it wasn't enough as NU went into the intermission with a 52-27 lead.
  • In the third period, five different Panthers scored with Wojciak and Mullet both accounting for four points each. The Timberwolves extended their lead to 74-41.
  • The Black and Gold shot their best in the final quarter, putting up 22 points. Ohio Dominican dropped the contest to Northwood, 94-63.

The Panthers remain at home next week to host Hillsdale for their Senior Night of Thursday.
