SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - With one week before the 2024 Great Midwest Indoor Track and Field Championships, the Ohio Dominican Panthers indoor track and field team made their final adjustments in their third appearance in the Steemer Center this season.
At the Wittenberg Invite on Saturday (Feb. 17), two Ohio Dominican records were broken again this season. Brooke Armbrust (Grove City, Ohio) and Eayuel Gebrtsadik (Columbus, Ohio) reset their own records in the 200 meters and the mile, respectively.
1st Place Finishes
- Brooke Armbrust (Grove City, Ohio) - 7.66 second time in both the prelims and final, 1st place in both races
- Eugene Boahen - 6.95 seconds in the 60 meter final (tied for third fastest time for season) after a 7.07 second prelim time
- Cole Miller (Chillicothe, Ohio) - 2nd best long jump mark for the season (7.24 meters); 2nd best mark in program history - NCAA D2 Provisional mark
2nd Place Finishes
- Brooke Armbrust - 25.16 seconds for the 200 meter dash to reset her ODU record
- Jacob Krous (Galena, Ohio) - second fastest time in program history for the 1000 meters (2:34.77)
3rd Place Finishes
- Owen Wilhelm (Sunbury, Ohio) - 1.87 meters for the high jump in third best mark of the season
- 4x400 Relay (Isaac Eugene, Diaby, Boahen, Wilson) - 3:35.33, second fastest time of the season
4th Place Finishes
- Eugene Boahen - 22.12 seconds as the second fastest 200 meter time for the season
- Ismael Obas (Columbus, Ohio) - 10th longest jump in program history, 6.67 meters
- Kaelin Pfeifer (Washington Court House, Ohio) - second fastest time for 500 meters in the program's history (1:25.35)
- 4x400 Relay (Nikane Ambos (Wapakoneta, Ohio), Pitt, Pfeifer and Griffith) - 4:27.44 time
6th Place Finishes
- Eayuel Gebrtsadik (Columbus, Ohio) - broke his own mile record (4:19.42) after setting the new mark two weeks ago
- Ismael Obas - 60 meter final time of 7.08 seconds (PR and season-best), improved from 7.09 seconds in the prelims
- Grace Pitt - slots fifth all-time for the 500 meters, 1:27.46
7th Place Finishes
- Aly Diaby - second fastest time in the 400 meter dash of 50.49 seconds
8th Place Finishes
- Tyler Wallace (Columbus, Ohio) - 7.14 seconds for the 60 meter final, set a PR of 7.07 seconds in the 60 meter prelims
Other Finishes
- Merrick Shorter (Dublin, Ohio) - reached a personal best for the mile (4:22.66) and now ranks 3rd in the program's history
- Cole Miller - 7.14 seconds in the 60 meter prelims, 10th place overall
- Aly Diaby - 7.16 second time for the 60 meter prelims, finishing in 12th place
- Jana Griffith (Washington Court House, Ohio) - 1:04.48 time in the 400 meters, finishing 19th place - second fastest time of the season
- Henry Pierce - 21st in the weight throw with a PR of 12.12 meters; season-best 10.11 meters in the shot put (36th place)
- Benjamin Seely (Chesterton, Indiana) - finished 23rd in the 60 meter prelims with a 7.27 second time
- G'nae Morrison (San Antonio, Texas) - clocked in at 1:06.46 for the mile in her season debut, 23rd place
- Gabrielle Reed (Pickerington, Ohio) - reached a PR of 2:35.11 for the 800 meters, 23rd place
- Jeralyn Strawn (Lancaster, Ohio) - 5:44.81 time in the mile for an indoor personal record
- Blake Wilson - 24th place for the 400 meter dash (53.83 seconds), third fastest time of the season
- Tyler Wallace - set a PR of 23.30 seconds in the 200 meters for a 26th place finish
- Mustafa Al-Saibawi (Columbus, Ohio) - 11.33 meters in the weight throw (29th place) and 10.45 meters for the shot put (31st place)
- Edward Devaney (Lexington, Ohio) - 2:10.05 for the 800 meters to set a new personal best, 30th place
- Jaclyn Strawn (Lancaster, Ohio) - second on ODU for the mile (6:01.51) for her second fastest time of the season, 36th place
- Rogan Hanson (Craig, Alaska) - broke a personal best for the mile with a time of 4:35.48
- Tyra McClain (Van Wert, Ohio) - set a PR in the mile with a 6:04.27, 37th place
- Anna Blackstone (Lexington, Ohio) - had her second fastest time in the mile this season (6:19.81) in 41st place
- Alyza Camp (Waynesville, Ohio) - beat her personal best in the mile by 14 seconds for a 6:25.00 time
- Aidan Shannon (Columbus, Ohio) - shaved three seconds off of his mile personal best time (4:45.21)
The Great Midwest Indoor Track and Field Championships will take place at Ashland on Friday (Feb. 23) and Saturday (Feb. 24).
