Four Panthers Score in Double Figures at Lake Erie

PAINESVILLE, Ohio - The Ohio Dominican Panthers men's basketball team traveled up to Lake County for a rematch with the Lake Erie College Storm on Thursday (Feb. 15) night. 

A back-and-forth affair saw 12 lead changes and five ties as Lake Erie won the contest 92-82 at the Osborne Center. 

BOX SCORE NOTES
  • Sean McKitrick (Dayton, Ohio) led all scorers with 26 points in the ballgame. With nine field goals made, McKitrick knocked down a career-high six three pointers. He added five rebounds and five assists. The freshman scored 16 points in the first half with ten points in the second period. 
  • Luke Ruth (Grove City, Ohio) scored 19 points on eight-of-15 shooting with one three pointer and two free throws. He grabbed a team-high seven rebounds with four assists and two steals. 
  • Nate Webb (Lafayette, Indiana) had himself a season-best contest in Painesville with 17 points, scoring ten of those points in the first half. The senior was six-of-nine shooting with three triples. 
  • Parker Swartz (Grand Rapids, Michigan) tallied two points, five rebounds and one steal.
  • Caleb Maurer (Fort Loramie, Ohio) added one three pointer off the bench with two rebounds. 
  • Lachlan MacDonald (Dublin, Ohio) flirted with a double-double as he scored a career-high ten points and eight assists. He was perfect shooting the ball, making all four field goal tries with one three pointer and one free throw. 
  • Eli Meyer (Seymour, Indiana) also bested his career-high marks in scoring and assists with five points and three dimes. 
  • Ohio Dominican finished with a 50% field goal percentage with 31 field goals of 62 tries. They set season-highs with 13 threes and a 50% clip beyond the arc. 
  • The Panthers had assists on 23 of 31 field goals, the highest mark of the season thus far. 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Lake Erie and Ohio Dominican exchanged baskets with three pointers by Webb and Ruth giving ODU a 6-5 lead with 17:40 left in the first half. 
  • The Storm pushed the lead to as many as 15 (27-12) in the first 11 minutes with a 22-6 rally. 
  • ODU did not go quietly with an immediate 10-0 run as they cut the lead to 27-22 with eight minutes left. After a Storm three, ODU continued with a 9-0 run as they took back the 31-30 lead on a Maurer three. Over seven minutes, the Panthers put together a 19-3 run to erase the deficit. 
  • 11 of McKitrick's first half points came in the final 3:32 of the half as the game was tied 46-46 at halftime. 
  • The Panthers opened the second half with a quick 48-46 lead on a pair of Webb free throws. Lake Erie's 11-2 run pushed the home lead to 57-50 with the under 16 media timeout coming. 
  • Ultimately, the Panthers got the lead down to 69-68 with a Webb three pointer at the 7:37 mark. 
  • Lake Erie never let Ohio Dominican any closer as they won the game 92-82.
