Swartz Leads Panthers in Ashland Defeat

ASHLAND, Ohio - The Ohio Dominican Panthers headed north on Interstate 71 to take on the Ashland Eagles on Saturday (Feb. 10) for a Great Midwest matchup inside of Kates Gymnasium. 

Ashland defeated Ohio Dominican 90-46 in the Saturday contest. 

BOX SCORE NOTES
  • Parker Swartz (Grand Rapids, Michigan) finished with a team-high 13 points in his seventh game of at least ten points. He was five-of-11 from the floor, with three triples for the third time this season. Swartz added three rebounds and two assists. 
  • Nate Webb (Lafayette, Indiana) and Caleb Maurer (Fort Loramie, Ohio) were tied with eight points each. Webb set a season-high with two blocks and tied his season-best with three assists. Maurer hit season-highs in scoring, field goals and two three pointers. 
  • Sean McKitrick (Dayton, Ohio) scored seven points and was tied for the team lead with five rebounds. He had three assists in the contest. 
  • Luke Ruth (Grove City, Ohio) added five points and five rebounds in the game. 
  • Eli Meyer (Seymour, Indiana) pulled down four rebounds for the second straight game and had two blocks for the second time this season. 
  • Christian Lee (Birmingham, Alabama) nailed a three pointer off the bench and had three rebounds on the day. 
  • Ohio Dominican shot 32.7% (18-55) for the contest with eight three pointers. The Panthers only took six free throws, making two of them. 
  • After seven blocks against Malone on Thursday, the Panthers had five rejections on Saturday. 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Ashland scored the first basket with Ohio Dominican answering with a three pointer by Swartz for a 3-2 lead. The Eagles scored the next six points to gain an 8-3 advantage at the under-16 media timeout. Swartz nailed another triple out of the timeout to get ODU within 8-6.
  • The Eagles outscored the Panthers 40-13 in the final 16 minutes to hold a 48-19 lead at halftime. 
  • Swartz lead the Panthers with eight points at the half with his two early three pointers. Maurer and McKitrick both added three pointers late in the half. 
  • Swartz started the second half like the first half with a three pointer as Ohio Dominican answered Ashland's first bucket. The Eagles continued to expand the lead in the second half to win 90-46.
