Panthers Beat Marauders in Wilberforce, 65-50

WILBERFORCE, OHIO - The Ohio Dominican women's basketball team started off their week traveling to Wilberforce to take on the Marauders of Central State University for a non-conference matchup inside of Beacom Lewis Gym.

The Panthers defeated the Marauders, 60-50. As a team, Ohio Dominican had the upper hand offensively, shooting 37.5% from the field and 35.7% from beyond the arc.

Junior Sarah Ochs led the way for the Black and Gold, tallying 19 points, six rebounds, and four assists while grabbing three steals. Guard Gabby Stare was behind Ochs, contributing 15 points and shooting 6-of-14 from the field, adding six rebounds. Brynn Mullet also made significance to the win, displaying 13 points, eight rebounds, four assists and two steals.

First Half

In the first quarter, Ohio Dominican dominated, shooting 41.18% from the field and 42.86% from the arc. The Panthers displayed strong defense, allowing Central State to score only five points in the first quarter, compared to ODU's 18.

Ohio Dominican continued to power through the second quarter with a strong offense. From the field, the Panthers shot 40%, hitting 6-of-15 buckets. Central State increased their field percentage to 23.81% and chipped on 11 points. Ohio Dominican led Central State going into the halftime, 31-16.

Second Half

Central State came out of the half turning up the intensity on offense, adding on 20 points in the third quarter, shooting 38.89% from the field and going 62.50% from the arc. Ohio Dominican only shot 40%, letting Central State outscore them 20 points to 17. Ohio Dominican was still able to keep a wide lead of 48-36, heading into the final quarter.

Ohio Dominican out-scored Central State in the fourth quarter, adding on another 17 points and limiting Central State to only 14. Ohio Dominican shot 5-of-17 from the field and a solid 75% from the free throw stripe. After four quarters, the final score rang 65-50, adding a fourth win to Ohio Dominican's record.
