COLUMBUS, Ohio - In their home conference opener, the Ohio Dominican women's basketball team fell to the Findlay Oilers with a final score of 79-53.Â
Gabby Stare led the Panthers with 17 points, six rebounds, and one assist, while Sarah Ochs added 13 points and three rebounds. As a team, Ohio Dominican contributed 26 points in the paint, nine points off turnovers, and nine bench points. The game featured one tie and six lead changes.Â
First Half
Ohio Dominican started strong in the first quarter, shooting 41.18% from the field and 80% from the free-throw line. They held a 14-19 lead going into the second quarter. Meanwhile, Findlay struggled early, shooting just 33% from the field.Â
However, the second quarter was dominated by Findlay, as they outscored the Panthers 34-12. The Oilers shot 57.14% from the field, 50% from three-point range, and a perfect 100% from the free-throw line, while Ohio Dominican struggled with only 25% shooting from the field and 22.22% from beyond the arc. Findlay took a commanding 48-31 lead at halftime.Â
Second Half
Findlay maintained their offensive momentum in the second half, shooting 42.86% from both the field and three-point range, adding 15 points in the third quarter. Ohio Dominican continued to struggle, shooting only 21.43% from the field. In the final quarter, Findlay extended their lead, scoring 16 points to Ohio Dominican's 12, despite the Panthers shooting 100% from the free-throw line. Ultimately, the Oilers secured the 79-53 victory.Â
