OWENSBORO, Kentucky - Ohio Dominican University's volleyball team delivered an impressive performance in their Sunday (Nov 3) matchup against Kentucky Wesleyan College, sweeping the Purple Panthers 3-0 in their second G-MAC contest of the season.
The Panthers were led by junior Jenna Peters, who shined at the net with 13 kills, three blocks, and an outstanding six service aces. Middle hitter Grace Zinchuk also contributed heavily, recording nine kills and leading the team in blocks with six. Setter Saige Avery was pivotal, dominating both the assist and dig categories with 16 assists and 15 digs.
As a team, Ohio Dominican out-hit KWC 40-32 and was exceptional on serve, totaling 14 aces as a squad. The Panthers also posted 55 digs and 35 assists over the course of the match.
The first set saw Ohio Dominican take control early with a commanding 10-2 lead, ultimately winning 25-14. The second set was more competitive as KWC managed to stay within striking distance, with the score sitting at 22-18 in favor of ODU. However, the Panthers closed strong to take the set 25-20.
The final set began similarly to the first, with Ohio Dominican jumping to an 11-5 lead. Although Kentucky Wesleyan mounted a late comeback, narrowing the score to 19-18, ODU finished with a 26-24 victory, completing the sweep.
