NORTH CANTON, Ohio -Â The Ohio Dominican volleyball team opened their weekend road trip with a 3-1 loss to Walsh University in a G-MAC showdown. Here's a recap of the match:
Set 1: Ohio Dominican took control early, building a 18-14 lead and maintaining it throughout the set. They closed out the first set with a 25-19 win, taking a 1-0 lead in the match.
Set 2: Walsh responded aggressively, jumping out to a 10-1 lead. Ohio Dominican attempted a rally, narrowing the deficit to 16-22, but Walsh held firm to finish the set 25-19, tying the match at 1-1.
Set 3: Walsh came out strong again, going up 7-3 early. Ohio Dominican responded with five consecutive points to tie the set at 10-10, but Walsh regained control and closed out the set with a 23-16 run, winning 25-16 to take a 2-1 match lead.
Set 4: The final set started with both teams trading points, reaching a 14-14 tie. Walsh then went on a decisive five-point run to close out the match, winning 25-20 and securing the 3-1 victory.
Individual Performances:
- Lauren Lucas led the Panthers with eight kills and added two blocks.
- Lauren Dinunzi, the libero, posted a strong defensive performance with 14 digs and four assists.
- Saige Avery, the setter, contributed 20 assists, eight digs, and three aces in the loss.
Ohio Dominican will look to bounce back in their next match, facing Malone University at 1 PM to close out their weekend in Canton.
