Men's Soccer Gains Another Win in Canton

11/4/2024 10:53:00 PM

CANTON, Ohio - The Ohio Dominican men's soccer team earned a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Malone in a late-season G-MAC matchup on Saturday, November 2. The win marks their second consecutive triumph, as they head into their final stretch of the season.

Malone struck early, with Christian Piccolotto scoring in the second minute, assisted by Fraeday Moo and Levi Jacobs. The remainder of the first half saw little scoring action, although Malone maintained an 8-3 edge in shots on goal.

The second half saw a more balanced game, with both teams battling for control. Ohio Dominican's breakthrough came in the 72nd minute, when freshman Mamadou Sow netted his ninth goal of the season, leveling the game at 1-1. Sow's goal came off assists from Emmanual Frimpong and Amadou Sy.

Just eight minutes later, Ohio Dominican was the beneficiary of an own goal from Malone, putting the Panthers ahead 2-1 and sealing the win. The match was a scrappy one, with both teams combining for 26 fouls and five yellow cards.

Despite being outshot 10-8, with five of Malone's shots on target, the Panthers escaped Canton with a win. Goalkeeper Gannon Graf recorded four saves and allowed just the early goal by Piccolotto.
