COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio Dominican volleyball team started their week hosting the Marauders of Central State in a non-conference matchup. The Panthers swept the Marauders after three sets, 3-0. Â
The first set started in a dominant fashion by the Black and Gold, going on a 7-1 lead to start the game. Being a force at the net was outside hitter Ashley Chmielewski with seven kills. Jenna Peters collected six kills and led ODU in the ace category with three. Â
To start set two, Central State tried to bounce back, evening the score at 11-11. But, with strong attacks from the Panthers, ODU was able to keep a three point lead the rest of the set, winning 25-21. Setter Macie Bowden led the team in assists with 12, behind her was Gabrielle Kirker with nine. Â
The last set started with Central State taking the lead, forcing the Panthers to trail, 8-5. After sneaky attacks by the Marauders, they were able to force ODU to call a timeout with a lead of 19-13. After ODU's timeout, the Black and Gold fired off a 12-3 run to finish the set and win the match, 25-23. Libero Lauren Dinunzi and Christen Tarter led the Panthers with eight digs each. Ashley Aselage chipped in two blocks and six kills for the win.Â
