OWENSBORO, Kentucky - The Ohio Dominican men's soccer team faced off against Kentucky Wesleyan in Owensboro, Kentucky, suffering a 4-2 defeat in a tightly contested G-MAC matchup.
The game kicked off with a bang as freshman forward Mamadou Sow scored just 38 seconds in, thanks to an assist from graduate student Mohamed Sheik. Sow added another goal at the 4-minute mark, bringing his season total to seven.
Kentucky Wesleyan responded quickly, with Calum Newson netting a goal in the 10th minute—his seventh of the season—as well, assisted by Jacob Boling and Haakon Torvbraaten, narrowing the gap to 2-1.
As the first half drew to a close, KWC surged ahead. Haakon Torvbraaten converted a penalty kick in the 42nd minute, equalizing the score at 2-2. Just a minute later, Braden Meyers-Curry scored, assisted by Callum Nolan and Santiago Henrich, giving Kentucky Wesleyan a 3-2 lead heading into halftime.
In the second half, KWC extended their advantage with Jacob Boling's goal in the 58th minute, sealing the match at 4-2. Overall, Kentucky Wesleyan outshot Ohio Dominican 14 to 13, with 7 shots on target compared to ODU's 3. The match was intense, resulting in a total of 25 fouls between the two teams.
