ASHLAND, Ohio - The Ohio Dominican women's soccer team faced a tough challenge against the fourth-ranked Ashland Eagles, falling 5-1 in their G-MAC matchup.
The Eagles opened the scoring early, with McKinley Mendenhall finding the net just 15 minutes into the first half. Dani Hicks followed up six minutes later, extending Ashland's lead to 2-0. Mendenhall added her second goal at the 29th minute, assisted by Hicks, leaving the score at 3-0 at halftime.
The second half began with Tori Haggit scoring for Ashland in the 45th minute, assisted by Mendenhall. Just six minutes later, Hicks scored her second of the night, making it 5-0 with assistance from Merrik Mihalek. Ohio Dominican managed to respond in the 58th minute when freshman Madeline Hartke scored her fifth goal of the season.
Ashland dominated the game with 31 shots, 15 on target, while Ohio Dominican took eight shots, with four on goal.
