Men's Golf Finishes Second at Davenport Invitational

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. - The Ohio Dominican Panthers men's golf team headed to the state of Michigan for the first of two straight tournaments last weekend. Ohio Dominican competed in the Davenport Panther Invitational on Saturday (Oct. 12) and Sunday (Oct. 13). 

On the links of Bedford Valley Golf Club, the Panthers finished second of 12 teams in the rankings, totaling a 2-under 574 for 36 holes. The 574 was the second lowest total in program history. ODU shot the second lowest round in the program on Saturday, a 7-under 281 before a 293 on Sunday. 

The Panthers had 33 birdies, the second most among the team totals. They led the pack with 112 pars. 

Graduate student Jack Lindgren was the top finisher, tying for second place. Lindgren was 2-under for the tournament with a 142 total. He was 2-under 70 in round one before shooting even-par 72 in the second round. Among all players, Lindgren was tied for second with nine birdies. 

Senior Yadhu Urs and junior Bryce Cobb finished in an eighth place tie as they both scored 1-over 145. Both Cobb and Urs had identical scores of 1-under 71 and 2-over 74 in the respective rounds. Urs was sixth with seven birdies while Cobb scored six birdies in the event. 

Senior Tyler Andersen scored two rounds of 2-over 73 for a 4-over 146 total as he was tied for 14th place. 

Senior Jeremiah Bane finished one stroke behind Andersen in a 17th place tie. Bane shot the lowest round of the weekend for Ohio Dominican, a 3-under 69 before finishing up with a 6-over 78. Bane's grand total was a 5-over 147 with 24 pars (T-3rd). 

Freshman Owen Lutz participated as the individual for the Black and Gold. Lutz was in 55th place, tallying a 36-hole total of 161 (+17). Lutz was 7-over 79 in the opening round and then ended Sunday with an 82 (+10). 

Ohio Dominican's final Fall tournament will be the Wayne State HawksHead Invitational on Saturday (Oct. 19) and Sunday (Oct. 20).
