Volleyball Clutches Fourth Straight Win at Thomas More

CRESTVIEW HILLS, Kentucky - The ladies of Ohio Dominican's volleyball team traveled to Thomas More last night to face the Saints in Saturday G-MAC play.  

The Panthers came away with their fourth win in a row, defeating the Saints in four sets, 3-1. Ohio Dominican recorded a total of 55 kills, 54 assists and 51 digs as a team.  

Once again, right side hitter Ashley Aselage collected 16 kills and three blocks to lead the Panthers at the net. Middle hitter Grace Zinchuk also chipped in 11 kills and four blocks.  

Setter Saige Avery secured herself 32 assists, ten digs and three aces on the night. Defensively, libero Lauren Dinunzi led with 13 digs, also adding nine assists to the win. 

How It Happened: 

Both teams started set one with finding their groove and attacks, keeping an even score at 6-5, ODU leading. With a few attacking errors by Thomas More, Ohio Dominican was able to take on a 4-point run lead, making it 9-5.  

Attack errors hurting ODU, the Saints were able to find points back, creeping in at 10-9. Ohio Dominican ultimately took off in the middle of the set, gaining a 16-10 lead. The Panthers collected 13 kills, winning in dominant style, 25-15. 

Set two started off in similar fashion to set one. Ohio Dominican took charge by taking an early lead of 5-2. With three straight kills from Aselage and Zinchuk, the Panthers were able to take a larger lead of 10-3. The Saints were able to gain points back with a service ace and three key kills, changing the score to 12-8. The Black and Gold were able to finish the set with ease, winning 25-17. 

Set three started with both teams keeping an even score for the majority of time. Throughout the set, both teams shared 17 lead changes. With a tie score at 25-25, the Saints were able to grab the last points, winning 27-25, to force another set. 

In set four, the Saints came off firing again, taking an early lead of 5-2. Key service errors by the Saints allowed Ohio Dominican to match the score at 10-10. Nearing the next 15 points, both teams kept an even score at key points in the set like, 14-14, 20-20 and 22-22. Ohio Dominican stayed on top, clutching the last three points, winning the final set, 25-22.
