ODU Hosts Ursuline Before Heading To North Canton On Saturday

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Another week of conference play is ahead for the Ohio Dominican women's basketball team. The Panthers will host the Arrows of Ursuline on Thursday evening before packing up and heading to North Canton to take on the Cavaliers for the second time this month.

The Black and Gold went 1-1 last week with a close loss to Cedarville, 61-60, and a 59-51 win against Walsh. The win against Walsh gave ODU its first Great Midwest Athletic Conference win of the season.

Last week, senior Gabby Stare (Newark, Ohio) led the way with 30 points on Thursday and 15 points on Saturday. Stare is second in the conference in points per game, averaging 19.1, and is fourth in field goal percentage, shooting 57.4 percent from the floor. The guard averages 3.4 rebounds a game and 1.8 assists a game.

Freshman La'Sonja Hill (Cincinnati, Ohio) follows Stare, averaging 9.7 points per game after dropping 21 through the two games. The point guard dishes out 2.5 assists per game while snagging 2.0 steals a game, ranking seventh in the G-MAC. Fellow guard, Brynn Mullet (Berlin, Ohio), averages 6.5 points a game while handing out a team high of 2.7 assists a game.

On the rebounding end, Jenna Shackleford (Newark, Ohio) leads the team with 4.4 boards per contest. She also matches Stare in delivering 1.8 assists per game and collects 7.8 points per game. Forward, Logan Pride (Twinsburg, Ohio) had a great game against the Cavs on Saturday. Off the bench, Pride shot 50.0 percent from the field, scoring 11 points and snagging nine rebounds.

As a team, the Panthers are putting up 62.5 points a game while allowing their opponents to score 69.2 points. They are shooting 43.3 percent from the field, 24.2 percent from behind the arc, and 69.7 percent from the charity stripe.

About Ursuline
The Arrows enter Alumni Hall on Thursday evening with a 12-2 overall record and a 5-1 mark in the conference, holding second place in the standings. UC is on a four game winning streak after downing Walsh and Cedarville last week.

Michaela Cloonan leads the way in scoring, averaging 15.6 points and 2.3 steals a game. The guard is followed by Alexis Frazee, who averages 12.3 points, and Riley Stopp with 11.4 points per game. Madison Cloonan leads the team in rebounds, averaging 8.9, and assists, dishing out 4.2 per game. She is second in the conference in both categories.

Earlier this week, freshman Sophia Kline was recognized as the G-MAC Athlete of the Week for her performance over the last few weeks. The forward averaged 15.3 points, 9.5 rebounds, and shot 52.5 percent from the field. She netted back-to-back double-doubles against Purdue Northwest and Walsh.

As a unit, the Arrows average 73.1 points a game while holding their opponents to only 59.1 points a game. They are shooting 26.9 percent from the field, 35.9 percent from behind the arc, and 74.9 percent from the free throw line.
Within the NCAA Division II All-Time series, ODU holds an 11-5 record over UC. The Black and Gold are 8-1 against the Arrows despite Ursuline winning two of the last three matchups.

About Walsh
The Cavaliers have moved to 3-9 overall and 1-5 in the G-MAC after going 0-2 last week, including a 59-51 loss against the Panthers. The Maroon and Gold will travel across town to their rival, Malone, on Thursday before hosted Ohio Dominican on Saturday.

Kiley Dyrlund continues to lead the Cavs in a number of categories. The sophomore is their top scorer, averaging 12.4 points per game. She also leads the team in blocks, averaging 1.3, and in steals, securing 3.1 a contest. On Saturday, Dyrlund scored 11 points against ODU

Following her is Alycia Triplett scoring 8.3 points a game. Triplett grabs 5.8 rebounds a game, a team high. Triplett led the team last weekend in Columbus, netting 15 points.

As a squad, WU averages 56.3 points a game while their opponents score 68.3 points. They are shooting 34.3 percent from the field, 29.5 percent from behind the three point line, and 66.9 percent from the free throw line. After their loss on Saturday, the Cavs still continue to lead the NCAA Division II All-Time series over the Panthers, holding a 13-9 record. When in their own arena, the Maroon and Gold are 7-3 against the Black and Gold.

Tipoff
Tipoff is set for 5:30 PM on Thursday afternoon inside Alumni Hall against the Arrows. On Saturday, Walsh and Ohio Dominican will battle again for the second time in a week, starting at 1:00 PM in North Canton.
