COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio Dominican Panthers (3-10, 0-6 G-MAC) men's basketball team wrapped up the season series with the Cedarville Yellow Jackets (9-5, 4-1 G-MAC) on Thursday (Jan. 4) at Alumni Hall.
Ohio Dominican tried to thwart Cedarville's three point attack with a second half run, but Cedarville won the contest 81-63.
BOX SCORE NOTES
- Sean McKitrick (Dayton, Ohio) scored 21 points, passing the 20-point threshold for the fourth time this season. He was seven-of-12 overall with two threes and five-of-eight at the free throw line.
- Luke Ruth (Grove City, Ohio) followed with a career-high 20 points on six field goals and an eight-of-11 clip at the free throw line. He added three assists and one block.
- Zac Kimball (Sydney, Australia) had six points and ten rebounds, his third straight game with double-digit rebounds.
- Lachlan MacDonald (Dublin, Ohio) set career highs with seven points, six rebounds and five assists. He was perfect from the floor on three shots with one three point try.
- Parker Swartz (Grand Rapids, Michigan) came off the bench with five points, two rebounds and one block.
- Nate Webb (Lafayette, Indiana) tied his season-best with six rebounds.
- Ohio Dominican shot 48.9% (23-47) overall in the game, 23.5% (4-17) from deep and 68.4% (13-19) at the free throw line.
- The Panthers out-shot the Yellow Jackets from the floor and the free throw line.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Cedarville opened the game on an 11-0 run before the Panthers answered with eight straight points, capped by a four-point play from McKitrick. The Yellow Jackets led 11-8 with four minutes gone by in the first half.
- Over the course of the first half, Cedarville continued to push the lead to twice. Ohio Dominican cut the lead both times back to seven points with nine minutes before halftime.
- Ohio Dominican trailed by as many as 21 (48-27) in the first half and was behind 48-31 at halftime.
- McKitrick and Ruth were both at 11 points in the first half.
- The Panthers scored seven of the first nine points in the half to get within 12 points. Cedarville expanded the lead to as many as 19 within the first ten minutes of the second half.
- After Cedarville led by 17 (68-51) with 8:28 left, Ohio Dominican used a 9-1 run to get back within single-digits. McKitrick hit a jumper with 3:34 left to make it 69-60.
- The Yellow Jackets made one final push to win the game 81-63.
