NORTH CANTON, Ohio - The Ohio Dominican Panthers (3-11, 0-7 G-MAC) men's basketball team battled the Walsh Cavaliers (11-3, 5-3 G-MAC) for the second matchup in the month of January on Saturday (Jan. 13) at Alumni Arena.
Ohio Dominican played Walsh close in the opening half but fell 72-30 to the Cavaliers on the road.
BOX SCORE NOTES
- Sean McKitrick (Dayton, Ohio) led the Panthers with 14 points on the day. He made five field goals, including three triples and then had a team-high five rebounds.
- Luke Ruth (Grove City, Ohio) scored ten points with three free throws and three steals.
- Lachlan MacDonald (Dublin, Ohio) finished with two points and three rebounds.
- Parker Swartz (Grand Rapids, Michigan) made his first start of the season with four points, four rebounds and one steal.
- Nate Webb (Lafayette, Indiana) tallied one rebound, two assists, two steals and one block.
- Eli Meyer (Seymour, Indiana) and Christian Lee (Birmingham, Alabama) made their ODU debuts on Saturday. Meyer had four rebounds with Lee setting a career-best with three.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Walsh opened the game on an 8-0 run spanning the first four minutes but Ohio Dominican chipped away at the lead. The Panthers answered with a 12-1 run to take the 12-9 lead at the 9:55 mark.
- Ruth scored four points with McKitrick adding a pair of three pointers during the run.
- The Cavaliers followed the ODU run with 12 straight points of their own for a 21-12 lead with 5:35 left in the first half.
- Five straight points from McKitrick cut the Cavalier lead to 25-19 with three minutes left before the break.
- Walsh led 27-19 after the first 20 minutes.
- McKitrick scored 11 of the first 19 points with Ruth adding six and Swartz scoring two.
- The Maroon and Gold started the second half with some quick scoring and created some distance throughout the rest of the second half.
