Fearon And Stare Net Double Figures In Home Loss

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican women's basketball team hosted the Oilers of Findlay on Thursday evening. The Black and Gold battled but couldn't overcome their deficit, falling to Findlay, 71-49.

  • Once again, Gabby Stare (Newark, Ohio) led the team in scoring with 11 points tonight. The senior grabbed a team high of five rebounds and added two steals.
  • Following Stare was Madelyn Fearon (Greenville, Ohio) with 10 points. Fearon went 3-7 from the floor and a perfect 4-4 from the charity stripe. Fearon dished out a high of three assists while snagging three steals.
  • La'Sonja Hill (Cincinnati, Ohio) and Jenna Shackleford (Newark, Ohio) both had a hand in the scoring as they combined for 15 points. Shackleford secured four rebounds as Hill nabbed three steals.
How It Happened
  • The Oilers started fast, jumping to a 10-0 lead in the first three minutes. ODU ended the quarter on an 8-0 scoring run to tie it at 14-all. Fearon had three steals and four of the eight points.
  • In the second quarter, the Orange and Black outscored the Panthers 17-7, pushing their lead to 31-21 heading into the intermission. The Black and Gold ended on a four-point swing with layups from Stare and Fearon.
  • In the third period, the two traded points before ODU cut their deficit to four with seven unanswered points. The Oilers grew their lead to 15 with 11 consecutive points. Findlay walked into the fourth quarter with a 53-39 lead.
  • In the final 10 minutes, Fearon secured four more points, but the Panthers couldn't come back from their deficit. ODU fell to UF, 71-49.
